Is there any way to remove the operator logo that covers my colour wallpaper
on my 6820 i've seen it advertised in mags but want to know if it can be done by myself.

Yep. All it is, is a transparent image.

Sure is! I managed to do it today. Took a bit of figuring out, but the simplest way seems to be (assuming you have I/R or USB cable for the phone…):
Get/install Nokia PC Suite 6 off Nokia's website
Make a 1*1 pixel BMP file, black and white, with a single white square (save as OS/2 format, not Windows format - I used Paint Shop Pro 8.)
Rename the bitmap after saving it, to 'OPLOGO' (get rid of the .bmp extension too!)
Copy the OPLOGO file to the 'hidden' folder on the phone, and overwrite the existing OPLOGO file, should it be there…
And then you'll have a simple 1*1 bitmap saved on the phone, and it'll treat the white square as transparent, so yeah... no stupid writing in the way of a nice background!

Copy the OPLOGO file to the "hidden" folder on the phone
how, or where, do you find that hidden folder???

if anyone wants to get rid of the operator logo,
log on to wap, go to www.thenokiazone.com/blank.nol

If you turn on the logo in settings an it doesn't show, try this trick: 1 turn on sim pin security. 2 hit *3370# or #3370# reboot phone. If logo doesn't show, try again. Some providers override logos, this will work in that case.

here's a little challenge for you guys...
instead of the regular transparent logo, i want to write something on my logo to replace the default operator logo. so the manner in which it appears is the same as the default operator logo where it's transparent around the letters. Is that possible? i've got a 6800 if that's important info.

you can also go to jhonny.com and use download code #1. your primary carrier will be gone, but if your roaming on a different carrier that name will show up. good for all of you local only plan users who get charged for using other carriers towers. :o

it appears the owners of that website change the name and location of the logo file regularly, www.thenokiazone.com/?tnz=logo always has the correct link.
oh and it works a treat on my 6100 :P
