Help, I am a TOTAL newbie and need DETAILED help.

When I put in my SIM card it says SIM Card not accepted.

I have a Data Cable but do not know what to do eg I assume that I have to Unlock the phone - how do I do that?

Do I need to have the SIM card in the phone or not?

What software do I use?

I told you that I was a novice ;-)

-> remove the SIM...

-> connect your data cable... and power ON your phone...

-> go to the DOS, use PCLOCALS (U can found it in the download section) for unlock...

In the menu >>> SW Reset...

your phone has been unlocked... :)

Which two buttons?

Do I leave the SIM in ?

I have managed to get a bit further and using Reset SP Lock in Knok22 enables me to go further but now with the SIM in it tells me that 'SIM card registration failed'.

The SIM is from an old Cellnet phone that I still use (it has free calls to home). Does this mean that the SIM is locked to the phone?

What can I do?

TIA

Thanks kOuBy2k1

given my other response about getting further do you think I still need to use PCLocals?

TIA

if your phone is a 3310, with PCLOCALs, U can change also the bit 30 (0->1) to have got 3315's features...

if your SIM is not accepted... With Nokia Tools, U can try:

-> Click on "SFR" button (Reset User Factory)

-> click in "Change IMEI" button (update your IMEI)

-> Click on "Clear SP LOCKS" button (reset security code)

-> Click on "Update FAID" button

I think, your phone will going to works...

Knok don't works with me... :(

kOuBy2k1,

I tried your suggestions, using Knok22 as NokiaTool will not work for me but now all that happens is that when I do a Reset the screen goes through normal sequence before re-booting again and then stating that SIM card registration failed. HELP

I am using a Mobile Action Data cable

TIA

The older Btcellnet SIM cards dont work in newer phones. Check the back of your SIM. I think it has to say "PP3" somewhere on the back for it to work. You may need a new SIM:(

I know that some BT Cellnet SIM Cards were network locked so that the SIM Card would only ever get signal when used in the phone that was originally supplied by BT Cellnet.

I know this was certainly the case with the old Philips BT Cellnet phones.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone.

Does this mean that you cannot unlock the SIM itself?

I can't see any logic in locking a SIM to a phone as I would always be using the Cellnet service and thus paying them :-(

hI AGAIN,

I have started fresh with a totally different Nokia 3210 and a Orange SIM. When the SIM was inserted it stated SIM Card not accepted.

Using XPMobile (coz I have XP) which is later version of Knok22 by the looks of it, I did as suggested above

Click on "SFR" button (Reset User Factory)

click in "Change IMEI" button (I set it to original again)

Click on "Clear SP LOCKS" button (reset security code)

Click on "Update FAID" button (used Quickset FAID as other option says 'No Flash stored')

Now when I reset I get:

Welcome to Orange followed by

SIM card registration failed

Help please as I am going around in circles.

I cannot get PCLocals to work I have set Com port but cannot set Baud rate although in config file it is set to 9600 anyway but shows on program as 9999. The program constantly tells me there is an error in connection but I have used LMLinkTest to check FBUS is okay.

NokiaTool tells me it is unable to read phone type aaagghhhh!

If a SIM Card is locked to a particular phone then unfortunatly there is nothing that can be done. Sorry.

SIM Card Registration Failed means that authentication by Orange has failed. This normally means one of two things.

1 SIM Card is not active.

2 Nokia 3210 is Blacklisted ie It is registered as lost or stolen with Orange.

To check this you can call Orange on 07973 100150.
