The new Nokia 7610 is an Asic6 phone! It is not possible to generate unlocking codes for this kind of phones yet!

How do you know?

...Yotamz said so, and no more news about generating codes for that asic. And the fact that no calculator in its latest version has that asic hehe

Cheers

(obviusly, the tone of the answer is joking though the info is right, so don't take it wrong!!)

Ok, thanks... :)

Soon there will be a solution (always is). But I don't think it will be free

it won't be free???

well... i guess that this time the guys at nokia made an enough complicated algorythm that we have to pay for the work of discovering it...

There's still enough work for free to be proud of the people i think

The Nokia 7610 is Asic Type 5

Here we go again... :-?

Is it ASIC 5 or 6?

MobyProject: How do you know it's 5?

I know its Asic Type because I have created a DCT3 & DCT4 list which includes Asic type

You know because you created a list? How did you get the information you needed to create that list?

I'm not sure i can trust that list too much, since you have placed set both 6610, and 6610i as Symbian and type 5, which is an obvious mistake... :o

I am not perfect and neither is my list, but I don't know of any other one.

I rely on people to report errors, so I can make corrections

6610i are Asic 2 or Asic 5 newer phones, i unlocked some.
7610 is Asic 5 (also unlocked 3 mobile) on T-mobile box.
7610b is Asic 2 V2 codes.

Geezuz, the 7610 is an ASIC 5, I have unlocked many using ASIC 5 without a problem.

There is however a difficulty with some of them (and this applies not only to the 7610 but also the 6620 & 6670)

On entering the final # on some of these models the code disappears and it returns to "Insert SIM" instantly. The phone does not reject the code with an error message, nor accept the code with a message. Even if the correct code is used it still does this.

What I don't know is when this happens, if it is after too many code tries, or just happens on certain phones.

Anyone else seen this?

fatboymal....

Actually, this is exactly what happened to me when I entered the codes. I have tried the codes on 2 different 7610b and one of them returned with a Code Error, however the other 7610b returned with the "Insert SIM" message. In both cases, I have only tried less than 5 times on each phone. The only difference between these 2 7610b is that the one that gave the "Code Error" message was active on Cingular's Network while the one that gave the "Insert SIM" message has not been activated yet.

Any idea what this all means?

Canon,

No, except as khideg states, if it just returns to "Insert SIM" then you will not be able to unlock it, even with the correct code.

It is interesting that you state the one that does not accept the code was not registered.

I had a UK Orange one yesterday that did the same, and it was not registered, and a Virgin 6670 that was not registered that did the same.

If you hadn't already tried 4 codes without success I would say is it possible to register the second phone and try to see if it gives an error.

@ khideg, do you know if the phones that you saw that went straight to "Insert SIM" were not registered?

The codes given on the Nokia Free Online Calculator for this phone don't work. I've tried twice now. I was told to use ASIC 5, T-mobile box serial (32802), code number 1 with SIM removed and it failed. Some of you say you have had success but I am skeptical. What did you do different?

(NB this is for the UK 7610 not the American 7610b)

I should have replied long before now, but I forgot about this thread until I was searching on google again.

My 7610 didn't accept the codes because.... it was already unlocked.. oops

Sorry
