oh, wtf man...
i finally realised what the reduced mmc means... i mean did u guys went into the nokia.com and look at the preview of the 7610? did u click on the demonstration? it showed the mmc with the exposed metal field at the SIDE!!! not at the top for our current mmc...
i mean, i personally havent see this type of mmc in the market rite now. so, maybe (i said maybe) nokia is trying to monopolised this so called reduced mmc? does that mean high price? does that mean lower storage space like 128MB at most? Drats!!!
any comments anyone?

Samsungs 7650-look-a-like series 60 phone uses "small MMC's", or something. If it is the same as 7610s (it seems pretty logical) we wont have to buy them from nokia i guess...

A stereo speaker? Never heard of any model having this kind of feature b4. (all I see is a phone with a single speaker) :-?
Are you sure u didn't mean a stereo output on headphone? Coz that's i'm sure since it will have a pop-port :)

I checked, the samsung 7650-wannabe (sgh-d710) uses RSMMC-cards. Heres a direct quote of mobileburns (http://www.mobileburn.com/gallery.jsp?Id=702&source=SIDEBARHOME) info about sgh-d710.
"The new card slot is an RSMMC slot, though, not the more common SD type. This relatively new RSMMC format is about half the size of a traditional MMC/SD card. The "RS" stands for "reduced size.""
I guess that means, that the RSMMC is a universal memorycard, not some jackass idea of nokia

Reduced-Sized MMC is a new industry-standard MMC format which is physically smaller than the regular MMC, but with faster performance. It has the same capacity as the regular MMC, only the physical size was changed. The reason why they created this new format is to allow design of smaller devices. Adapters for the reduced-sized MMC are available so you can use it to your existing devices that uses regular MMC. This means that both the reduced-sized and regular MMC has the same pin assignment.
This is similar to Sony's approach to their regular MemStick, which now comes in smaller package called the MemStick Pro. The MemPro is also faster, and with available adaptor for devices that uses regular MemStick.
Expect other flash card formats to follow this trend, which means more expenses for us consumers! :)

Isn't it memstick duo, like in the P800 and that? Or is that another of the memory stick formats?

I think he means a Memstick_Duo (small one with an extra adaptor)
btw, They call ones with a capacity of more than 128MB a "Memorystick_Pro". So there are like a "Memstick Pro" and "Memstick_Duo_Pro" :)

oh damn, means i got to sell my current mmc away. wat a smart idea nokia has. so is it available commercially outside for this RSMMC?
well of cos, i was thinking, reduced size, better performance = higher price. shucks man, this is really dumb.

This is good news in a sense for the majority of Nokia Symbian Users.
Normal MMC Cards will be cheaper?
But I guess they're trying to use smaller memory cards, thus producing smaller phones? I don't see much difference in size between 6600 and 7610. Not enough improvement for me to say "I'm going to buy it". I'll wait for a even smaller one, with 3 Mega Pixels :D

haha, waiting for a 3mega pix cam phone? guess u got to wait for a long long time... u got to least wait fo r a 2 b4 u got to see a 3. unless someone wanna spoilt the market?
anyway, cheaper for mmc? i dun think so. there are still many devices that uses mmc. however the price of mmc of cos will reduce slowly owing to higher capacity replacing the lower ones.
but guess ultimately, we were be all using this rsmmc. ah, wat a chore! SD for my pocket pc, MMC for my phone, Compace Flash for my digital cam and a memory stick for my sony devices. and now? RSMMC...wtf.............

Oh, ok. Good point there reficul_x.
So that does that mean my trustworthy USB Card 6-in-1 Reader/Writer (reads CF1, CF2, MMC, SD, MS, SM) won't be able to read RS-MMC?
Dang ...
Better come with a Belkin RS-MMC Card Reader/Writer with the Nokia 7610 at some stage ...

nah, i guess that ur reader can still read ur new rsmmc if u have it. cos the pin remains unchanged.

Yes, you put a small RSMMC into a normal-sized MMC shaped Adaptor, then put into your card reader :)
What will really suck is that currently MMC and SD are at least sort of compatible, but RS-MMC and miniSD have different form factors making them completely incompatible. And then Sandisk has yet another incompatible standard called TransFlash (previously T-Flash)...

i hope u r rite my friend. i tot that it was a mono type cos in the specifications, it doesnt say that it was a stereo speaker type.
but again i tot, this phone truely support mp3 so all the more it should support stereo sound.
