I have been using PC Suite's Synchronize function to backup my contacts to my Outlook contact on my PC. Not sure how to get to the file you mentioned.

i think that offline mode is only for n-gage.
there is a flight mode in 6600, you just got to install psiloc system tools. it lets you boot up in flight mode

if you want to extract the contacts in your fone, use a program called agora contacts manager, this prog extracts your contacts to a database file (.csv)

There's also another way to do, here's what I do:
1. go to C:\system\data then rename folder "Data" to whatever name you like
2. get the file "Contact.cdb" from the folder (u can copy and paste it to MMC to be sent out to pc)
3. rename back to "Data"
:)

ohh forgot to say, you do the same when you wanna get back the contact:
rename the folder and put the new .cdb file into it (dunno if you have to del the old oun first? or else just overwrite), then rename back and restart

omg, that was an ingenious idea!!! y din i thought of that? by doing that, the phone wun read the renamed folder for the time being! that was way too cool! it works!
thanks a million Pou_pee!!!! btw, have u tried backing up the contacts this way? is it really the ONLY file for contacts? did it work this way?
woah, thanks again!

SHUCKS!
it works but, suddenly i cannot rename it NOW!!!!
wat i did this time is different, i rename the Data (see with the default capitalised D infront of the Data word) as data. and now i cannot rename it no longer! it says, folder is being used!!!
so my guess is that the d must not be a small letter one, jus use the default D when u type it out.
So pple please help me! im very desperate now as my 300 over contacts gone! i couldnt find the agora contacts manager for free, and i oni have my phone and im outside. so help me!!!! hope it doesnt involve the hard format and the pc, cos i cant linked them up (its not my home pc, its my office)
Thanks pple!!!!!

Try using FExplorer, i used to change it with HandyFile without a success.
I'm not quite sure what prob u are facing, Did you restart once you replaced .cdb file in order to see your contact? Or you can't rename "data" to "Data"? May be rename to other name and then back with "Data", wud help
hope I can help
I'm using this method for backing up my contact too :)

3650 has "Memory" (Memory Card) option, then "Backup phone memory". This is described as backing up your contacts as well as Calendar etc to your memory card.
Maybe the 6600 has the same (or similar) facility that can be used?

well heres an interesting little website of freeware for the symbian s60 phones...
http://personal.inet.fi/private/riihimaki/s60/
it also has a program called Contacts Transfer (scroll to the bottom) which allows you to copy/backup and restore contacts between same or any symbian phones (the .sis program must be isntalled on both machines..
it uses infrared to transfer between phones but looking in the D: drive with Fexplorer theres a file called contacts.data which you can easily cut/copy and paste to the other phone or use it as a backup...
cheers ;)

To rename it try this. Go into memory and tell the phone to backup the phone memory to your mmc, when it starts you can go into your file explorer and rename the folder, the phone will have its mitts of the phone's folders and you can do what you like to it.
