c:\system\data\contacts.cdb

But if you wan't to backup this file it won't work, because this file is opened all the time. Use OPM or PC Suite.

You can back up the contact file, by copying it to another location like for example E but when you try to copy the file or restore it to its original location the FExplorer tells you that file in use, to avoid that plz run Memory Card App in the Extras, and from option choose Backup phone mem., while the backup in progress open FExplorer and you can copy Contacts.cdb to another location or restore it.
You can also copy logdbu.dat "in the same folder" for log and the folder "mail" in system folder to copy and restore messages, in the same way, while backup in progress.
The easy and best way is to use Pc Suite to back up and restore the file you need, you can delete unwanted files in your C:\nokia\"mobile name"\backup\ in your pc remember read the file filestore.dat.txt to no what each file means.
