Nokia 7610 vs. Samsung SGH-D710

i decided to start a thread where ppl can discuss and compare Nokia 7610 and Samsung SGH-D710.
write ur opinion on both phones and which ne u r most likely to buy. . .

well i'll most likely getting a N7610, but D710 does look so nice as well (love the look of it like N7650 :-P )

does anyone know what os D710 is using? s60 version 1 or 2?

i didnt find out anything concerning its OS version, the only thing i know is that its series 60 UI phone wif 1 megapixel camera, mp3 and etc. u can read about it more in the link above :)

i firmly support the samsung!!! on a note to the OS id guess s60 OS 2?? as it uses the new r-mmc which i guess wouldnt be supported by version 1 but maybe 2 does?? does that mean themes???

i was just watching this tv programm about hi-tech technologies and they said that in firs quartal of this year nokia lost more than 150.000.000 euros on sales of the phones and that the forecast for the middle of the year is not better. . .how predictable. . .it was said that this happened because its opponents motorola (USA) and samsung (Korea) have wider variety and larger choice of the camera phones with and smartphones.
they also showed samsung on the shop shelf i dont no where but i gues it was in Korea!

samsung rules no mater what nokia has i'll get samsung!
i never had problems with my previous samsung phone nor my friends who own one now, i can't say that this is the case for nokias though :(

D710 appears to have slightly bigger screen than 7610 and it is smaller and lighter than 7610

And i bet that the price of samsung D710 will be lower than the price of 7610!

samsung design doesnt have the funk in it. i dun think it has express on covers. secondly, the sliding mechanism is cumbersome, it will result in a faster wear n tear too! i dun wan my phone transform into 2piece after my warranty dies on me.

my feel on the design of the samsung machine is copied from nokia. the color looks very old. the buttons and the navigation buttons doesnt look convincing good to handle.

7610 will definately sell more than its counterpart, cos pple ultimately are more familiar with nokia's layout, etc. well, though i really hate nokia fones sometimes, guess its abit of brand loyalty that i buy nokia stuff. :sad:

lastly, there is NO bluetooth in this set!!!! thats lousy wi-fi!!!!!!!!!!!

of cos dear, the stupid samsung logo is on the screen as well.... the screen of cos appears to be bigger!

I choose N7610. But...

...if the SD710 has no antenna and not "sliding form factor", I may choose it instead since it is smaller and lighter. Antenna is not in fashion anymore, it is prone to breakage if you pocket the phone. Sliding form factor will loosen in time like the case of N7650.

its better to have normal simple design like samsung. 7610 keys are like sliding to the side which i bet will make messagin difficult! and al these diffrent colours of the x-press on luk girlish and childish. . . but thats just my opinion

maybe a little off topic but give me new N-Gage with camera and i definitely will buy it
sad that nokia never gives u full of what u xpect :(

back to topic: i will chose nokia, samsung is still behind: external antena, dont like the sliding keypad, covering lid for camera (maybe better photos but still annoying) [my mistake - 1megapixel]

D710 has a 1 megapixel camera, 16 bit color screen, etc. Not a VGA camera, just like 7610. :roll:

Aw and a question to you experts: If D710 is going to run Sym 60, would there be software for video recording? (unlimited, blah blah). Does it have to be specific or would it run ETI with slight modis? Actually the short q would be: For a developer, would 7610/D710 be as easy to port as 3650/7650?

Anyway, I've looked at both and still I prefer Nokia's. But I guess once they are both available, it will be down to price. If they will be 100$ apart, i'd get the Nokia, it's better. But if D710 is going to be 300$ and 7610 will be 700$, this will be my last Nokia. :evil:

It's darn annoying how Nokia keeps charging ridiculous amounts of money for thir handsets. And I'm tired to pay 400$ for 6 months or a year. I get a phone for 600-700$ and withing a year you get the same phone for 300, perhaps free with a 20$ per month contract. Friggin free. :sad:

actually, im slowly declining on buying nokia fones coz of their crazy prices. and samsung fones r getting better but the downfall of samsung is that it does not have xpress on covers, and its applications--i think have limited selections. but if this r resolved, then bye bye nokia! :lol:
