Friend of mine recently brought to me an Ngage, the unit powers up, but does not run.
After pressing the power button, the Nokia logo appears, then the backlit screen comes on, the logo disappears and then the screen powers off again. This whole procedure lasts maybe 10 seconds.
I have tried with & without sim, without & without game card. Now I am at a loss as to the problem/solution.
Can anyone advise, returning unit to Nokia is not an option, as its 2nd user and therefore outside "warranty".

it sounds as though you need the phone flashing. you need to find a shop that can help.
where are you?

Hold down the pencil key, turn on the phone while holding down the pencil key and don't let go...(this is 'safe' mode)
if that works and takes u to the main screen...i suggest typing in *#7370* for a full reset, then start enjoying it....
cheers ;)

It won't work. The only thing that you can do is take your phone to Nokia Care.

Thanks for the replies all, might have to resort to getting my friend to try a Nokia specialist, sounds expensive though :(

Looks like reflashing and issues similar to this are quite common reading other threads on here.
Maybe its a generic fault with the n-gage units?

Thanks for the reply, its charged as it powers another friends N-gage, have tried his battery in this unit also with same result.
Flashing is the only solution then :(

Yeah... It's the same thing as what happened on my phone, I ended up sending my phone to Nokia Care.
