Hi there,
How can I find the original nokia melodies, for example "electric eel" , "circles" etc..??

Another Q: Can I uninstall and re-install again my phone's os?

There is a file (for Gammu) at Marcin Wiacek's website - http://www.mwiacek.com/ - in the Downloads section with practically all the original Nokia tones in .re format.

*edit*
The direct link to the zipfile is here: (external link)

Another file to look in is the tone_all.zip file, i have included it below.

Hope this helps.

(PS always scan attachments for viruses please)

Ceviz,

( I assume you are new to this forum.)

nokiadef.zip: Ringtones in Gammu format
tone_all.zip: Ringtones in PPM format

To listen to the tones in nokiadef.zip, you can use the Gammu software (use the MBUS cable on the serial port).

Uploading them requires you to build a flashing cable and use flashing software like PPMEdit, Rolis, etc.
(read the 'newbie' tutorials for directions)

One question:
How familiar are you with regard to flashing, gammu etc?

Sorry if I'm being unclear.

Not familiar with then. And I can say this is the first time I am hearing the flashing cable...why do I need this? Bluetooth or IrDA does not work for flashing?? :(

Yes, you will need a flashing cable as the flashing cable is used to edit or upgrade the phone's software.
It is so called because the phone's software is stored in "flash memory".

I'm afraid that bluetooth and IrDA is provided by the phone's software and will not work for flashing. :(

My suggestion is to read the newbie FAQs http://nokiafree.org/forums/t31337/h/s.html

Hope this helps.

an extract from the second link:
3) What is flashing?
Flashing is changing the phone's internal software, or firmware. This can be done to upgrade to a newer version which has bugs fixed, or to modify the phone's features (add ringtones, change graphics, add features). In some cases, flashing can change a phone's model. (8210 can be 8250, 3310 can be 3315). It is called "flashing" because the phone's operating system is not on a hard disk, but in a chip which is direct programmed, a "flash memory" chip, hence "flashing".
