hey everyone,
last week i decided to upgrade (not much of an upgrade!) to a nokia 3595 phone. i bought a brand new, unlocked nokia 3595 off ebay and brought it in to my local cingular dealer to have it activated. i wasn't too phased by the fact that it had a t-mobile logo on the front (even though there were no pictures of that on the ebay auction)--it was unlocked to work with all providers, right? well, everything worked as far as the "talking" went--i was able to access my voice mail when i was still in the store, and receive a call from the person activating it.
unfortunately, when he tried to set up my wireless internet, there were some problems. he couldn't get it to work, and couldn't get it out of the "t-zones" settings from t-mobile. he tried several things to no avail and referred me to nokia--when i e-mailed them, they told me to call cingular because they could probably help. i just got off the phone with cingular tech and we had no luck. he tried to send me the settings via SMS messaging twice, and it didn't work. he tried to help me do it manually, but apparently the service menu is different on a t-mobile 3595 as opposed to a cingular 3595, so no luck there either.
i've still had no problems with placing or receiving calls, voice mail, or sms messaging, though. absolutely no complaints there. (minus not receiving the messages sent from the cingular tech, but i think that's more than a coincidence--maybe the settings won't even send to my phone if it's programmed for t-mobile?)
i don't think this is an unlocking problem, and i think my phone may need to be flashed, but i'm not sure. can anyone confirm this, or has anyone had the same problem? if it needs to be flashed, is there anywhere i can go to actually get this done as opposed to buying the cables and flashing it myself?
thanks so much!
