If u hv installed 3rd party themes and u find the menu excruciating slow.
Go to Themes, select ur active theme, then edit. Change the Icon to use "Default Theme". Now u find ur menu speed is as fast as if u r using the default theme.

Hi,
Yeah this is a known thing, I find the bigger the theme's .SIS file the more likely it is to lag.
I now try to make mine as small as I can, while still having the same amount of detail. As you have seen the icons make a big difference as it has to load them up each time the menu is accessed.
The newer firmware, V4.09.1 is a lot better for the bigger theme's.
Another trick to speed up your phone is to reduce the call log setting to keep received calls in memory to 1 day. This also makes a big difference.

change the log setting to 1 day didnt speed up the menu at all for my phone.
I have tried with many themes (big and small) and if i used the "default theme" icon set, the menu speed is much faster compared to using icon that came with the themes.
maybe it has something to do with the default icons being in the phone rom??
now i'm happy with the menu speed. it is like instanteneous eventhough i have something like 40-50 icons per submenu.

Hi,
Yeah, you could have a good point there about the icons loading faster because they are installed on the Z: Drive.
I think it is just the icon size mainly thats the culprit. The more colourful they are the bigger they are, admittedly not by much but even small increases makes a difference.
I am surprised at the log trick, it certainly speeded mine up a little. Unless it's a firmware dependant thing maybe, I'm using V4.09.1 which is slightly faster anyhow.
