I think for me it is time to upgrade, finally Vodaphone and Optus have reduced the plans so you can get the 6600 with no upfront charge and pay $45-50 a month for 2 years but typical Telstra haven't budged with their typicaly over priced plans of $90~ a month including phone repayments still charging $899-999 for phone when other networks charge around $700~800. Question is that is it worth upgrading to 6600 from a 7650? My mate has one and I didn't really think that it was a big deal, the extra memory is a bonus yes and the screen as well but apart from that it's the same phone, maybe I should wait for a 6620/6600i with larger internal ram, more cpu power and stereo mp3 playback, hrmm, what to do... The phone has to be a Symbian 6+ phone, I checked out a 6230 and it's not a bad phone, but to simpe for my likings and it's a Symbian 40.
What you guys think? :-?
P.S These deals for the 6600 I've seen are in Melbourne.

You could always wait and get the 7610 when it gets released in Australia, but it will probably cost a small fortune, but the 6600 might drop in price when it gets released... so yeah. :)

Hrmm it looks ok but it also looks like a monaco bar, plus it probably won't be released her for atleast another 6 months or so and yeah it will be expensive, then I would rather prefer a P900.

If i had the choice, i'd go for the 6600.
7610 is nice but it has this reduced size MMCs, ever saw one?
Don't think there even are 512MB RS MMCs!
Smart move nokia...

I it has a D-Pad as well, what the 6230 has which I didn't like, I prefer the joystick, I wonder Nokia will ever release the 6620/6600i here.
Also talking about MMC's, my mates 32meg card which came with the phone didn't work in my mmc reader, in windows when I click on the removable drive it would say Please Insert Disk..?!?! and when I tried putting my 32meg mmc card in his phone, the phone wouldn't boot, Can you only use the Nokia Suite to read the cards which I guess are formatted by the phone?

that sounds like a pretty good deal. the 6600 is a great phone i am glad i got mine, even though i paid a lot more than that, i'm on telstra through fonezone and it was 1200 when i got it, paid 500 up front and paying off the rest with my plan... now i see it around for 800-900...
at the time i wanted to go optus but they screwed me around too much after i lost my old phone.. vodafone has crap deals and i guess telstra is a mod of blood suckers too :) there is a local one here now that i will probably switch to cause i get mates rates..
still.. its been out for a while and definately doesnt have the value it does when it first comes out, as far as it will be usurped by a better model soon enough.. though its held its title for a while :)

Well I've been with Telscum for over 7 years and I don't even get a letter to say if I want to upgrade to a higher plan and get another phone, my mate received a letter saying you can continue with current plan and get a new phone, now I always thought that Vodaphone is better then Optus in coverage but this sales woman said Optus is in the middle being Telscum 1st and Vodaphone 3rd but like anyone would believe her anyways. I had alot of problems with Optus years ago with crap coverage but maybe they have improved and I don't really go to the country much, I also heard that Optus owns Vodaphones towers.
Also noticed that the speaker on the 6600 is pretty shitty compared to alot of the S40 phones like 7250i,6230 especially when using the speakerphone.

I heard that 7610 is slower than 6600...
Well if you can wait a little...take a look at that:

hehe similar shape to 3650. I suppose there is no point waiting, otherwise I would be waiting forever.

upgrading from 6600 from 7650, its definitely worth ur money.
mmc support, java 2, the cam/video is better.
and it has more ram!
or u can wait, for other models like 7610 or the nokia prototype.

well 6600 is indeed a great fone and its price is well worthed (well at least for me for the superb support of nokia service center). but if ur in a budget or u dont like or need its new features, dont try to upgrade. :D

heheh the main reason why I am holding back is because of the 6620, I know it's only for the U.S but there is that slight chance you know. :D
Plus I'm with Telscum and to get 6600 I would have to port to either Optus or Voda and for coverage they both suck.

Yeah but the 6620 if it comes out here will come out at premium prices while the 6600 will be a lot cheaper by then.. i cant see them bothering with it, especially with such minor improvements
as for reception i was with optus and they were the worst here in qld, in my home town i couldnt use my phone at home, had to go outside, i'm sure down south its better, but telstra is definately best for reception, especially with a 6600 (i'm pretty sure it helps)

heh I have to disagree with that because you know what Nokia is like, look at all the revamped models like 7250i for e.g all the phones with i.
B seems to have ok plans and they go thru Optus but they don't have a 14 day return policy incase I can't get reception in my house hehe, I actually had that problem years ago with Optus in my house, pretty sad really.

Well, I went to Northland Plaza today and I thought hrmm what the hell I'll check out Crazy Johns again and guess what?! Telstra have dropped their price so now you only pay $50 a month for 2 years with $40 of free calls, was surprised heh and err *cough* I got the phone heh, now I just hope it's not going to be a regretable purchase, then again it will be atleast a year till an upgrade of this phone will be available/affordable, I also needed to upgrade the plan from $10 a month so everything is cool heh, only bitch is is that you have to charge the phone for 10~12 hours. >>;\
Oh yeah, I also got Belkin mmc card reader included, shame it's not USB 2 tho considering I already have a old USB 1 reader but better then nothing. >>;]
Is there a way to transfer all my settings/sms's/contacts from my 7650 to the 6600 via irda or via pc?

My next phone will not have a joystick. I use the phone too often, and my 6600's joystick is going wobbly and I hate that.
I'd prefer the 7610 layout to be honest, especially the keypad, the cover colours and the "semi-leaf-shape". It's the internal looks that I detest. Especially the D-pad. That's why I like my N-Gage now, more than the 6600.
Well, Long Live the N-Gage ...
I hate the N-Gage QD too. Left out 2 things I need the most: MP3 & Radio. Who needs hot-swappable when you an get cr*cked games on one MMC?

I don't like the N-Gage for the fact that it looks like a kiddies phone and you have to hold weird to talk into. I'm too old for that kind of a phone look but I do like playing games, now I just have to find out where to get them all.
