Howdy.

My dad got a company 7250i.
It's weird, 'cos as far I've seen, it is a hi-res phone, and has 65k colors.
Strange, isn't it.

I'd also like to know what cable/software shall I use to transfer photos to PC.
(I know it's the DKU-5, but, can "non-original" work ?)

Thanks for ur anwers

(I know it's the DKU-5, but, can "non-original" work ?)

with OPM that makes no Difference

Have fun

u bet it? it has 65k colors? if so then your 7250i has been installed 7250i's firmware but your phone is not 7250i. That's the only reason I can think of.

Thanks for ur answer.
I've been at Nokia's site and cannot find any difference between DKU-2 and DKU-5. What's the catch ? :)

And what's OPM ?

Thanks

I know.
It's veryyyy weird.
No problems under direct sunlight either.

In the battery place it states clearly 7250i.
The box also.

It even looks as a normal 7250i.

But a friend of my father's got himself also a 7250i (provate, not corporate), and it sure has problems under sunlight and it has less colors than my father's.

Thanks Nokia :)

Hello :)

First of all, how do you guys determine "how many" colours your phone got? Do you count them? :)

The 7250i has 4.096 colours STN screen, just like a 7210 or a 6610. The TFT 65k colour models 6220 and 6230 have the same resolution 128x128 but "active" screens which makes them seem more bright and also "faster" in reaction, i.e. when playing games with fast moves.

Sunlight problems appear with both types of screen! I m yself use a 65k screen phone (not a Nokia tough) and, compared with my boyfriend's 7250 (4.096 colours STN) there's not much difference in direct sunlight.

Download attached file (sphere.jpg) and get it on the phone, then set it as wallpaper. Then compare! If one of the phones is 65k, the other one 4.096, you can EASILY see big differences! If that picture looks just the same, both phones have 4.096 colours. In my case, that same picture on mine 65k Sanyo and on my BF's Nokia, it is a difference light day and night.

If you can't upload stuff to the phone, but have WAP, go to the following address, using your WAP browser (GPRS or dialup):

http://thanhwap.tripod.com/gallery/sphere.jpg

About the cable issue: You can NOT use a DKU-2 cable! Because that cable is designed to only upload mp3 files to MMC-equipped phones! It is a straight-thru connector from USB to MMC device. It won't talk with the actual phone! To upload/download items to/from the phone, you need an F-Bus device, either the expensive original Nokia DKU-5 cable (USB) or a fake DKU-5 (often problems with drivers...) or a serial-pop-port cable. The latter works without any drivers, i.e. foolproof. You will need the latest versions of either Oxygen Phone Manager or Mobi MB tough, both are NOT freeware!

Kind regards.....

Thanh

Hi,

Thanks for all your info.
My fault on saying it has 65k colors.
I just compared it to a brand new 7650 and noticed differences.
It is definetely 4096.
BTW, how many colors is my girlfriend's 3510i ?

Another point - the picture you posted cannot be hotlinked. Tripod's BOFH don't allow that :)

And where can I get that foolproof cable to transfer pics?

Thanks :)

Hello :)

So, i just tested it... i can double-click the "link" and the picture opens in a new window. When i right-click it and select "save link target as...", my download manager kicks in and downloads it. And when i type that address in my WAP browser, it downloads to my phone.

If Tripod wouldn't allow hotlinking, my entire wallpaper project at http://thanhwap.tripod.com would not work :) So... the "link" works definitely :)

About the 3510i, it, same as the 3530 (same phone, different look!) has 4.096 colours as well, but in a resolution of only 65x96 pixels.

The "foolproof" serial-to-popport cable should be available in a GSM shop near you :)

Kind regards.....

your Thanh

the best and the most practical way to upload/download photos from ur 7250i to PC is via INFRARED cable(usb) and MobiMB software. it's very simple to use... drag & drop, copy & paste.. u can transfer photos, games, apps and ringtones.. another thing is..........u will save a lot of money because u can also use the infrared cable with almost all nokia dct4 phones..

come to think of it..........mmmmmmmmmmm.. :)
