More of an annoyance than a bug i think

Hi,

Got my 6600 a few months back and works fine from the limited things I have done with it. However there is this big annoyance with it.

No matter what thing I try I cannot get it to display a persons name when I receive a text. It just displays the +44.... number with no name. Is this a "feature" or something wrong. I deleted all my numbers from the phone memory and re entered them but still no change.

The only time it managed it was when someone sent a text who I did not have in memory and sussequently added. I even got the shop I bought it from to change the numbers to +44 format but still nothing.

Am I missing something or can it be fixed as its a hassle to go thru the phone book everytime to find out who is texting instead of just reading the name.

its just a bug i think,

but its funny, ive only ever heard of it to happen on the 6600 yet it happens on my 3650 too but only on 1 of my contacts, and no matter what i do it always displays his number instead of his name

i have the same exact problem on my 3650, 6600 and now 7610.
shit....
its godamm irritating.....

for the 2 previous phones, it used to be another friend's number, (meaning same exact person's number without name shown while incomming calls or sms)

now its another number, while the previous works....

did it helps? well, i got another strange bug when i have auto lock on my 6600. i put it into my pocket and after awhile, when i wanna use it, despite the locked status, the phone still manage to key in a few numbers!?

it so strange as u cant press ANYTHING URSELF with the locked status...

anyone has that prob?

yeah i got teh latest firmware on my 3650.

infact, thinkin about it, it only started happenin when i upgraded lol

reficul_x, you can actually type numbers in when the keypad lock is on. you try typing in an emergency telephone number like 999 (if your in the UK) :)

just incase of an emergency you can call out to these numbers with the keypad lock on

i have a 6600 with firmware 3.42.1 and ive never had this problem

My step bro has the same problem. I've got firmware 3.42.1 and I haven't got the problem. I think he has 3.49 something on his 6600, anyone know how to fix this problem?

frimware update wont resolve the problem with numbers not being able to display though... i wont know about the keylock problems. its evidently there but i dun really bother about it.... it can press whatever it wans to as long it dosent bloddy dial out... im happy.. :lol: :D

Think it must be something to do with the firmware version.

It says that its running 3.49.2 dated 20-01-04 with NHL-10 after.

Is there later versions, if so how could I get them.

true but u will need to clear the numbers if u need to call someone. and i find that an annoyance.

999? hell no.... it can even type any numbers! hahaha.... keylock, lock my ass... :-P

My mate had the same problem with his nokia 6600. He phoned up his operator and they told him that they needed to do something to his account and send him a text. He was then told to turn the phone off and then on again. After this it worked fine.

i had that problem when i first got my 6600. it was only a few people tho. it didnt happen to everyones number. really REALLY annoying. then one day it just fixed itself. i think it was after i bought a new 256mmc and transferred everything (including messages and message settings) over to it. sorted a lot of random things out.
