i bought a 3100 on t mobile cause it was the cheapest at the time and unlocked it.
my signal as well was shit so i took the phone back for a refund and got it as well.
they'll only know if you've unlocked it by putting in another sim which they won't do anyway.
chill out and return it you've got consumers rights.
