what is unlocking?

why would i want to do it?

anyone know where i can download the motorola tools for free?

i am using a V300 are there firmware upgrades? if so how do i go about it?

Unlocking lets you use a sim card from another provider in the phone. There are fiormware upgrades available, but unless you REALLY know what you are doing I would leave well alone as it is very easy to kill the phone in a few seconds.
