View Full Version : 6230 question mark error in place of operator logo

Hey all,
I used a WAP address to find a blank logo...the logo was sent to my phone via mms (?) and I opted to save the operator logo. It worked for one day -- perfectly -- I had no annoying "Yes Optus" over Buffy's face...
Anyways, the phone went a bit blooey and reset itself...and when it came back, I had a question mark in place of the logo and my wallpaper. Fair enough, the wallpapers' done that before...I turned the phone off and then back on. Buffy was back in place as my wallpaper, but I still have the question mark in place of my logo.
I didn't use MobIMB (I can't get it to recognize my phone when I've tried to use it) so I didn't delete the file from my gallery that was being used (cause it wasn't so) and attempts to get a blank logo from WAP just end up failing when I try to save them after receiving.
Any ideas on what to do? I know I can turn the operator logo back to 'off' to have 'Yes Optus' back on my screen, but I hate it! I'd much rather have the blank logo back up and running...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Weird problem,
I know you've tried downloading a blank op before, but try www.jhonny.org/wap
In the box enter the number 1 then ok it. It downloaded fine and I'm on Optus too.
A factory reset might be in order. type *#7780# on your phone. Naturally, this will restore your phone to its factory settings, so bear that in mind

Thanks for the help, emu11, but alas, the download doesn't work. I can get the file sent to my phone well enough, but for some reason I can't save the logo. EVERY time I get a "saving failed" message.
Any other ideas before I try the factory reset?

I'm all out of ideas then. Normally little bugs like that fix themselves up by turining the phone off then on again, but u done that. I can't remember if the latest version of PC suite can let u edit the op logo but that might be an option for you if it does

ey stevivor... that happened to my 6230 too! this sucks! i didnt do anything, then it just restored itself to defaults (though all my files were left undeleted) and now i cant seem to save a new operator logo.. though i can download an operator logo from nokia site, but the problem is i hate their logos there.. i'd rather prefer, like urself, a blank operator logo... ey, if you already know the solution to this problem could you please PM me, ill do the same if ill know.. thank you.. and good luck to us in solving our problem..

Same problem here, 6230 on O2-UK
Damned if I can get that crappy question mark to go.
I removed my sim to clean the phone, put it back in and the logo had gone, no matter how many logos I download, I can't save them
Anyone got anywhere with this yet? :-?
Cheers

i think that the operator logo file is corrupt, becouse of that "reset". try hard resetting the phone with that code above (or here: *#7780#) or send the phone for flashing to a nokia center. i recommend all who has 6230 and 3.1x firmware to use a 4.xx SW becouse it fixes a lot bugs, including reset bugs (with 3.15 i had aprox 10-15 resets per day and with 4.28 i have 1-2 per day, well im a "hardcore" user ;) )

Well, restoring factory settings didn't work...just made more work putting the clock, menu, etc all back how I like it...
Anyone else have any other ideas? My nokia service centre said I'd have to give up my phone for three weeks for repair (I'm assuming to reflash it) and I really can't go that long without my lifeline.
I was thinking about getting MobIMB to put a blank.gif as the logo to see if it worked, but you can't with the demo, and I'm not prepared to spend $$$ if it doesn't work as I'm happy with PC Suite to transfer files via bluetooth.
I've downloaded Oxygen but haven't tried it yet...
Anyone? Ideas?

Good news to those with the same problem that I've had...Oxygen worked! AND it was the trial version too, so you don't have to shell out $$$ for a solution that had the potential to not work. :)
Go forth and try it, peoples!

the simplest solution for the problem :)
when u set an image to be an operator logo
and after setting the logo u delete the image
from the phone u will get the question mark
casue the operator logo is connected to that image
so just dont delete the image u used for the operator logo :)
that what i did when i had that problem re-posted the operator logo
and the question mark was gone :)
