Hi!!! I'm new to this forum and I'd like to check out if the FBUS/MBUS cable is the same as "Data Cable" as mentioned on the logomanager website.
By the way... how is it possible to backup the phone using data cable?
Are there any possible ways to backup all the SMS, ringtones and picture message also?
Thanks for enlightening me...

ringtones and picture messages are contained in the EEPROM (adresse:3D0000 to 400000)
SMS are contained in your SIM card... (not erasing after flash... U are not obliged to save it...)
Good Luck !! :)

I'm not aggree about the sms always on the sim card.
some model, usually the new ones save the sms on the phone
like 6210,6250,3510,6510 ... as I know, and maybe more model have the same way.
Actually I 've lost some sms of mine after playing with flash program... ohhh fool of me :(
is there any program that can keep all we have on the phone???
like added ringtone, sms (on phone), pict msg, caller group, etc?? hehehe
 :-D

parallel flasher cable- usedfor flashing newmcu/ppm etc etc <--- Sorry I don't quiet understand this statement.
So this parallel flasher cable is different from the "Data Cable".
By the way... if I want to update my 3310's firmware to a later version, I have to get a parallel flasher cable to flash the fireware. Can it be done by using data cable?
I have read through the forum and some people say that they have "killed" their phone. Can the phone still function if it had been "killed"?
What if I did some mistake when "flashing" my phone. And my phone suddenly don't work. Can I get my phone back to work again? Or must I purchase another phone.
-- edit --
I've just found out that Data cable cannot be used for flashing. So if anyone wants to do flashing, you've got to go the parallel flashing cable.

a "killed" phone means a phone that doesn't work properly (or doesn't power-up at all) because of bad flashing.
most of the times that a phone is "killed" it can be fixed by reflashing...

Don't forget to save your original flash file before flash...
so, when U will killed your phone (it's possible), U may repair with your original flash... :)

Thanks for all those who had reply my questions.
There's another question which I would like to ask too. Have anyone try to change the LEDs of the phone yourself? I had open my nokia 3310 and found out that its pretty dificult to desolder the LEDs. The reason is because the phone is using a double layer PCB board. I have never solder or desolder on such a board before.
Have anyone tried it before? What precaution must I take? BTW can I use a 25W soldering iron?

@ madmania:
Try this software to export yours phone's info to a file... U need a data cable with SIM insert in phone... :)
software is containing to 4 archive files.... U need to rename them:
ex: Dr.SIM_2.61pro.part1.rar.zip to Dr.SIM_2.61pro.part1.rar
becose this forum don't accept RAR files...

only for read SIM info... (phonebook, SMS, Dialling Call, etc...). I can't find a software to export personal ringtones... But NokDoc said to me, in a thread, theses ringtones are contained in EEPROM file, at adress: 024A3A

Backup your phone is same with flashing/reading your phone.
You need a flasher cable which is connected to your parallel/printer then connect to your phone.
Use rolis 4.78 (this is the easy one flasher program) to read your phone (full backup).
Once you have backup the phone, your ringtone, logo, picture messages, and other stuff in your phone except the one in the sim card (sms and phonebook) will be save. If you save your phonebook and sms in the phone (6210, 7110, 6510, 8310, etc...) then it will be save also.
Tested with my 6210 (converted to 6250) and 3310. :D :D :D
Hope this will work for you :) :) :)

@username:
If u want to change the leds, get urself a hot air station eg magnum 2004. The leds lift off only if both sides are heated - if not u may tear off the copper tracks on the PCB. To solder new lights - use 0603 surface mount leds and put a small (i mean AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE) ball of solder on each side.

does it need f bus cable???
Thanks.

Thanks for your advice... But I guess the hotair workstation is a little to expensive for me. I just want learn how to take out the LED myself.
By the way how much is the hotair workstation cost? Perhaps I can invest on 1 next. Cos I'm currently studying electronics.
This is my first time working on a surface mount board. Are there any precaution which I should take? Because I think I'm going to use my current 25W soldering iron. Are there any advice for this? 15W or 25W???

Well u r going to battle with a stanard soldering iron - rather get urself a temperature controlled iron as the components cant handle any more than about 280°C. But if ur willing to try u need to make a tip for the soldering iron that is Y shaped- so that u can heat the solder on both sides of the led at the same time. just dont hold the soldering iron on too long as it may overheat the PCB.
I dont know exact prices for hot air stations - but probably US$200 or so.
Oh- get urself some liquid flux from an electronics store- it makes it a whole lot easier as u wont get dry joints when using it.

i think this method is very dangerous..
1. open your cellphone
2. locate the symbol on the led (T i think)
3. with the help of a tiny(it means that it will just get through the hole where the led is soldered) flat head screw driver, push the led downward until it breaks up.
4. solder it with a .3 lead with a flux. use 15w soldering iron
hope this is a big help 2!!
just did those to 4 of my 4 leds.. hehehehe:D
