View Full Version : READ security code of DCT3/4, even with IR!
GeeZuZz
16-08-2004, 06:45 AM
The security code on DCT-4 is possible to READ, just like it is on DCT-3's. That means, you do not need to RESET it with "fbus by maestro" or similar apps. You don't even need a datacable, it can be done via IR! :D
All thanks to the great application called GAMMU (http://www.mwiacek.com/gsm/soft/gammu.html) (direct download (http://www.mwiacek.com/zips/gsm/gammu/gammu_win32.zip)).
The application is command-line based, so you need to start it from a command window (Start --> Run --> cmd)
Just wanted to let you know, if you're not aware of it. :)

great one, thanks!
but 1 thing i wanna ask, do u need anything to connect? for example a 8310, do i need a pc suite? <im a noob @ this>
GeeZuZz
24-08-2004, 12:06 AM
No, you don't need anything. A normal IR or fbus/mbus should work. You might need to config the applications to use the right communication method first though. I think it's well explained in the readme or web.

my prob is, i connected the phone, my pc tells me 8310 is connected. then i went into command prompt and type gammu --security status (tried other commands too), none worked, it just hanged there. :-(

25-08-2004, 01:32 AM
What do you mean by "my pc tells me 8310 is connected"? If you are already running a application that is connected to the phone, that is probably the problem. If you have pc suite installed you should maybe exit the entire application using the task manager (ctrl-alt-del)

It might sound a little silly, but it happened to me.. after using the code for almost 6/7 months, one morning I woke up and realized that I forgot the security code of my Nokia 7600. The problem is.. the 'Security Keyguard' option was activated, that means everytime I unlocked the key-lock/ key-gurad I had to enter the Security Code (which was not the default code; i changed it).
Can anyone help me...I desperately need help.... is there any way to read / reveal the security code or resetting the security code without flashing the set? As I said I can't get into the phone..i can only receive calls; i can't make call, can't write sms, can't see the phone book, can't do anything but receiving calls.
It is worth mentioning that I can access the phone memory using my Nokia PC suit (through my PC) via DKU-2 cable. However, the infra options aren't working as it needs to be activated. Pls...pls...pls...help me.

You can calculate a master code that will reset the security code to nokia's default
If you can get another symbian phone then install the sw and calculate it, otherwise try to look for an online calculator (i know gsmschwantz had it once b ut not sure anymore)

Mestrini,
Thanks for your response. But, i think you missed the key problem....I'm not being able to write (or input) anything into my set at the moment, the keypad is locked.
I have been searching the net for solutions; meanwhile if any one could give a clue, I shall be grateful.

Thanks again for your prompt response, couldn't expect sonner. And my apology...let me admit it loudly- I have very little knowledge about these mobile phone things.
Got your point- I have to type the 10 digit MASTERCODE while unlocking the keypad. Could you please give me a clue- where to look for this MASTERCODE or how to generate one?

I think it's available right here in the forum but, as i told before, you'll have to get another symbian phone to use the program
If not here then look for it in gsmschwantz's site (http://www.schwantz-i.com/) a portuguese dude like myself ;)

With this program you can read the security code on Nokia's DCT4.
It works with Fbus/Com1, Infrared and Bluetooth.
The program is Security Code Reader v1.02.
For some reason I can't get either this programme or the Gammu one to talk to my Nokia 6230. I'm trying to find out what the security code for the phone is so I can reset it to the default '12345' code. Luckily the phone hasn't got a security code on startup so it can be used, i'd just like to reset it just in case I need to do a master reset.
I keep getting error messages like 'not supported', or 'can't find security code, check connection' messages on both programmes. I've changed that file in gammu so it's reading 'irda' (which is what I'm trying to connect with), and I'm sure I'm doing what everyone else is doing - any suggestions?
DaveLister
23-10-2005, 07:03 PM
Bump, any ideas?
It actually did connect with the security code reader programme once, and gave me a 5-digit code. Though when I tried this code, the 6230 simply said 'code error', so I don't think this was the right code. Also tried '12345' in case it had reset the phone, but no joy. Could it be a problem with my Irda drivers or setup? They have worked fine with other phones though.
Also, would the code *#7370# reset the security code?
Thanks! :D
