One of the best (if not the best) game on S60 is Doom. Almost no other FPS is that good. But it's the only old FPS from the PC, that's been ported to S60. Why is that?

Of course, the main reason it was ported is that the Doom source code was released by ID. But the source code for Heretic, Hexen and Rise of the Triads has also been released. Strange that no one has ported these great old games yet.

None of these games should be much harder to port to S60 than Doom. Heretic uses the same 3D-eningine as Doom. So does Hexen, I think. ROTT uses an enhanced version of the Wolfenstein 3D-engine. So all these games would run perfectly on S60.

I don't know much about symbian-programming myself, so I can't do it. But I would like to help if someone feels like giving it a go.

Wolfenstein 3D would be a pretty cool game to be ported.

Yes, tekken 2 would be great. It could be done... It's from around the same time as Tombraider 1 on the PS1. So NAMCO, do it! LOL.

All those games could be ported by the companies that made them. But the games I mentioned, could be ported by anyone with enough programming skills. The guys who ported Doom could do it.

If you state it that way, anyone can port anything if they have enough programming skills... Not only the company that made it.

Maybe, but the source code hasn't been released for all games.

I was looking for the Commande Keen source code but didn't find it But I saw that the source code to Duke Nukem 3D and Witchaven has also been released.

Duke Nukem 3D and ROTT source code on this page:

http://www.3drealms.com/downloads.html

But I'm not sure if any S60-phone could run Duke 3D without problems. I saw the version on the much more powerful Tapwave Zodiac, and wasn't impressed.

Halo & Unreal would be very exciting if they were ported.

A game like Unreal Tournament or Quake 3 would be really cool on the N-gage. Is there any FPS game on N-gage now, with online multiplayer? GPRS is like a 56 kbps modem. I used to play Quake 3 etc with 56 kbps, so it's technically possible.

Damn Sony_Ericsson! Ur 100% right. Unreal Tournament or Quake 3 would be better than Halo & Unreal.

Maybe not Halo...

Halo was 1 of PC hottest games last yr. Nokia needs 2 consider the same kind of Hot PC games from last yr. & this yr. would be a boost in the right direction to bring up their sales. Which have not been all that great.

porting halo is not an option, it's easier to just make a whole now game...
And BTW halo wasn't that good, maps where like 10 by 10 pixels & all the same models.
UT beats it anytime, anyday

Neophyte88> By todays standards maybe Halo isn't that great. But it was one of the first FPS for the Xbox. And it is quite a good game, compared to most of N-gage's first person shooters. And of course it couldn't be a port. It would have to be a complete remake.

v7e6j5> Yeah, there are lots of PC-titles that could be remade for N-gage. BTW I haven't bought an N-gage yet. I'm still looking for a used N-gage.

yuppo> Syndicate, Cannon Fodder, Postal 1, The Secret of Monkey Island could be ported if the source code was released. Maybe Cannon Fodder works on Picodrive? Postal 2.. isn't that quite a new game? It would have to be remade for the N-gage. I haven't played it, only the classic Postal.

The only other graphic adventure that i'd like would be Beneath A Steel Sky, that game was lush.

Going back to the the first post about fps i saw what looked like a Doom 2 patch/add-on for the 9210 version of Doom, hopefully the s60 version is released too.

Port Doom 3 immediately because my PC doesn't have enough juice to run it :)
