Hi

Just wanted to share my experience with unlocking the Nokia 6620 that i bought from AT&T.

I used the Curx tool and entered the IMEI and etc etc but the code i got didn't unlock my phone. I was surprized alot as i have such a faith on this tool. So, i am sure something was not correct in my input. I lost two chances on first attempt. Naturally i didn't want to make this phone unusuable so posted a unlock request to famous website which does unlocking and surprisingly they did send the same set of codes. It was waste of money i know. Then, i did some reading and i found out that, the problem might be in the selection of "ASIC" ( i don;t know what this thing means) and by default crux tool have chosen ASIC 5 and in the Box serial V2. I replaced the first entry with ASIC 2 and the box serial to 'ASIC 6' ( Prodigy new with code 33820 ). And i got set of codes again.

This newly generated code did the magic and YES i got my 6620 Unlocked with the message "SIM Restrictions off'. I used a T Mobile SIM and Cingular SIM and both worked with out any problem. So wanted to share this story as this phone is kicked off in the market recently. And hat off to Crux tool.

so the setting for 6620 is asic 2 and asic 6, not asic 5 and v2. why is that?

hi i m new to unlocking and am thinking of buying a 6620 from ATT USA and take it to Canada and use it with Rogers. I dont know how to do unlocking but i downloaded the cruxcalculator. So i put in all my information then select ASIC 2 in the first field. then under that select ASIC 6 and change the code beside it to the number u mentioned? or do i leave it as 32821 ? also will this method unlock the 6620 for sure?

gsm community, the 6620 does unlock with an ASIC 2 code, but do you know why? The 6620 is an Series 60 Platform 2, Symbian, the same as the 7610, and hence I thought should be ASIC 5. How come it is ASIC 2, do you know?

what worked great? how can u select asic 6 as boxkey and still have 33820 as key...if you do that it changes to v2, not prodigy.

this is in contrary to another posting by you

remove sim before netering code
code 1 does the job
31038, ASIC 2, Boxkey 32835

Maybe a typo..I am just a wee bit confused.

Is there a diffinitive unlock for an att 6620?

gsm community
31-10-2004, 04:31 PM
yes, there are many successful attempts

6620 is asic 2

31038 is config key for 6620

because 33820 box serial could be blacklisted in firmware, use 32835 or 32834 or etc..

it's confusing to declare a box serial as asic 6, that's bullshit IMHO

asic 6 boxkey means only, that this can be used with 6230 phone without risk, but you can use 32835 or 32834 for any phone (asic 2, 5, 6, 7)

Nottyma's discovery helped me unlock my AT&T Nokia 6620. Not a lot of 6620 folks on Mobileburn had much success...

Used CRux expert mode with Network Code - 31038, Phone Type - ASIC 2, Boxserial(GEN) - ASIC 6 / 32381. First one worked.

Just download Crux's program, enter IMEI, select country, select provider and at the end there's a preseletion ASIC 2 and immediately below V2 that you need to change to ASIC 6 instead of V2, calculate and use code number 1, it worked for my 6620 that was locked to ATT. I didn't have to enter anything more, I really hope it works for everybody.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your info. I have tried with each one combination on this page, but no luck. One thing I did notice is that I have entered wrong codes over 5 times and my phone still works, but not unlocked. And I code #1 to #6 always returns Insert SIM card. Is there anything I am doing wrong? I do have the SIM card and memory card out before I try the codes. It's getting really frustrating. Help needed here. By the way, I am using Crux 3.10 Calc.

Thank you all,
Dtm25

Hi, just wanted to post that I successfully unlocked my Nokia 6620 (used on Cingular, bought from Letstalk.com).

I used the following:
1) Selected Expert mode, entered 6620 for the phone type.
2) Service provider was Cingular in my case, 31017000
3) Selected 'Asic 2' in the first drop down box.
4) Selected 'Asic 6' in the second drop down box. The code shown comes up as '32821'.
5) Got the list of unlock codes. I only entered the first code (based on earlier posts I read in this thread), no others, and I got 'SIM restrictions removed'.

I was tempted to try code #7, but as I read previously, code #1 had worked, and it worked great for me! :D I hope this helps others.

Do I still need to enter code #7 to remove further restrictions? Any advice?

Good luck to everyone else,
Dan

By the way, after unlocking my 6620 using code #1, I went back and tried codes 5, 6, and 7 as well. 5 and 6 were accepted, it said 'Phone was not restricted' or something like that, but code #7 always gave a 'Code Error'! So, do not use code #7, it doesn't work!

Also, I was able to generate the same codes that worked using the online tool, after selecting 'GEN:' as ASIC 6, and 'Nokia Model' as ASIC 2. I had used the downloaded tool previously, since the online tool didn't include the 6620.

I too have the 6620 on the rogers at&t network. I have a question regarding unlocking the phone. If I unlock it will I loose the warranty?

Also I first downloaded this software on download.com. It gave me 7 codes. I tried 2 of them & the codes didn't work. I later went to this website and downloaded the newer 3.10 version. It gave 7 different codes. I got 3 tries left. Anyways, I thought since you were successful you could help me out. Do these numbers appear the same when you use the program.

Now Ive seen this asic 2 & asic 6 stuff and the software once again has generated 7 different codes. I don't understand what these Asic things are or whatever, so I would appreciate any help on your part.

Which route will yield the best results. I saw the last email and it seems the best route will be to use asic 2 & asic 6 in expert mode which will give me these numbers

I would appreicate your help.

I am using a Nokia 6620 purchased from AT&T last month and I was planning to have it unlocked with a cellphone shop. However, I found out that it can be done through the available online softwares. I used nokiafree.org's calculator but I did not get it the first time because I did not do my assignment correctly. I thought I would not try again after failing at the first try, however, I came across this forum and I followed Dan's method using the same online calculator. I was so excited when the message "SIM restriction off" was displayed.

Thank you Dan.

Both are locked to Rogers Wireless in Canada.

Used Crux's calculator v3.1, just select the phone model, network, IMEI
did not change other settings

The first code worked!! Good luck to all!

Wow,

Finally got the guts to try to unlock my phone again. I used 2 with the 3.0 version. Thanks to the advice above and the 3.1 version I unlocked my Rogers At&t nokia 6620 phone with the first try. (with asic 2, asic 6).

Once again, thanks to all those that shared their experiences. And thanks to this forum for allowing me to unlock my phone so easily. Wonderful site. I wish all forums were this helpful.

So last night after about 6 hours of research from forums all over the web,,I decided to follow Dan's exact method and it worked. Here is what I will suggest to all of you still in confusion of giving it a first try:
Use: Nokiafree unlock codes calculator v3.00 (not v3.10 coz using same settings it gave me a different code which I think no one has had luck with)
Settings::
Nokia
DCT4(expert only)
IMEI : put ur imei here
USA
My carrier was AT&T but according to dan's post he had cingular which also worked on same settings xcpet for a different mcc and mnc code(which is specific to carrier i think)
mcc and mnc:31038000
Asic 2
Asic 6
32821(automatically pops up in the box b4 the question mark)
Hit calculate:
I used the first code and hallelujah "Phone restriction off"
Again I would suggest using v3.00 . Worked fine for me. Good luck. Hope it works for others too.
PS: Also I also downloaded cyberGSM's code calculator but it gave me very different codes which I never tried so I cant really comment on it if anyone else is thinking of using that one .

Well folks, here is the end to all the questions for those using Rogers / AT&T with the Nokia 6620, Nokia 6620b, Nokia 6620i, etc.

The following settings work:

Nokia
6620
IMEI: [ ] [X] <---- X = check digit auto generated
Canada
Rogers AT&T Wireless
MCC+MNC [3027200]
Asic 2
Asic 6 [32821]

Under options, the only two boxes that should be checked are

IMEI Checksum Validation
Stretch Codes (Nokia only)

Enjoy ;)

By the way, after unlocking my 6620 using code #1, I went back and tried codes 5, 6, and 7 as well. 5 and 6 were accepted, it said 'Phone was not restricted' or something like that, but code #7 always gave a 'Code Error'! So, do not use code #7, it doesn't work!

Also, I was able to generate the same codes that worked using the online tool, after selecting 'GEN:' as ASIC 6, and 'Nokia Model' as ASIC 2. I had used the downloaded tool previously, since the online tool didn't include the 6620.

just fyi this didnt work for me, tried code #1 and got a code error
i'm also cingular and selected gen - asic 6 - nokia model asic 2 - carrier cingular/pac bell (31017)

IMEI: 111111221111110

IMEI : [removed] (Press *#06# at your phone keyboard )

Model: Nokia (DCT4 )
IMEI: [removed]
Network: 31038000

#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+1#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+2#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+3#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+4#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+5#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+6#
#pw+12 34 56 78 90 12 34 5+7#

Now remove your SIM card...and enter one of the above pass codes....first one worked for me!

To access "p" just press "*" three times within one second. To access "w" press "*" four times within one second.
To access button "+" you have to press twice "*" within less than a second.

If successful you will see the message 'Phone restriction off' (if not you will get a 'code error' message).

THAT'S IT, YOUR PHONE IS UNLOCKED! ITS THAT SIMPLE!!

People, this thread is full of imeis and codes... could you please respect the rules? I urge all the people that posted imeis to erase them. The reason why we don't allow imei posting is because it could be stolen and used as a new imei for a blocked/barred phone. So, it's for your own safety.

Best regards
Edge

Edit: that will not be necessary, as all imeis have been removed. But please, don't post anymore imei nor codes. Thanks in advance.

I recently unlocked my 6620 that I got from rogers wireless in Canada

now, I used the Crux 3.10, and I used the +7 code 4 times, then I was told it was the +1 code.. after using it, it gave me the "restrictions removed" text. After I put my Fido Sim in, it STILL asks me for a lock code. I tried doing the code again, but it says "sim is not restricted" but yet again it still asks me for a lock code when the Fido sim goes in..

any insight as to why or how this has happened?

Thanks in advance

Probably your provider used another code too. Try entering fifth code when it asks you for the new code. (of course, fifth code from the same set you generated the first correct one).
