Nokia release this registry cleaner which seem to do a reasonable job of improving reliability
Steps
Upgrade to WIN XP SP2 - Use only WIN XP BT Stack
Uninstall PC Suite
Run Registry Cleaner
Reinstall PC Suite to C:\ not the suggested Program Files area
mRouter should allow you to connect
might need to re-run registry cleaner if you move away from the PC before mRouter disconnects. i.e shutdown the computer before you take your phone out of range

don't know about other phones
scratch the remark about using the registry cleaner after bad disconnects, it mucks up the PC suite even more. just use it before re-installing pc suite
it's still quite unpredictable

in the mRouter properties window, it sometimes will connect if you do the following
deselect bluetooth
try and connect (deliberate futile attempt)
wait for the phone to drop the bluetooth connection
reselect bluetooth
try and connect again
works 50% of the time

hey dudes read the instructions too eh?
and to install it do the following...no buts, ifs or whatever...
for those whos pc suite aint working
uninstall pc suite
uninstall bluetooth
install bluetooth
install pc suite
install mrouter3
and please dont fiddle with anything in between...
far out u wannabes...read the damn instructions called readme.txt! theres readme files in every bloody program u install...learn to navigate to the directory of that program and read the readme bloody file...
cheers ;) oh and by the way if your bluetooth isnt widcomm (u cheapskate) you have to set the com port for your serial com port in mrouter3 for it to work...(if its Com4 set a com 4 connection in mrouter3)
oh and guess what...XP Sp2 and the bluetooth stack works with mrouter3 so theres no excuses...just make sure you tell that stupid goddamn firewall to accept mrouterruntime connections....
