Inverting Menu Text

Just wondering if their is any way of inverting the text that appears in the nokia menus eg.. Messages , Call register etc .. or is their a way of inverting everything without the LCD invert maybe by changing something in the flash file??

I have managed to do this using a inverted font but i was wondering if their would be a way of inverting this by changing something in the flash file to invert the display also??

Hi,
its very easy to invert the Display by Software. Open our Flashfile with a HexEditor and search for the Hexstring: 7809 4388 0600. Then canchge the String 88 in the 2. Block to C0.

Thanks, this is my first time at this board. I`m german (sorry my bad english:D ). But the Soft has one Bug. When you typing an sms the display invertet himself with the curser blinking. I`m working at this problem;) But can you make pics from your Handy, ì`ve also seen on my 3330.

i tried taking a pic of my phone b4, and it was rubbish - tried about 5 times!!

when writing a message, the whole screen inverts.... this can switch the invert on or off.

different on a 3310 i suppose.... when the whole screen is nomal push the red button.... and the phone stays normal..... push the red button when the screen is inverted and the phone stays inverted.

try pushing 'C' when the screen is different colour......

i thought that about a year ago, when i first time changed contrast on my 3210 with nkprofile.
i thought "if contrast can be set by software, why not invert it" but didn't study that.
actually, i'm a bad student, i never learn myself that kind of stuff. :(

I found this by my 3330 4.16. Im study long time in a german forum. But Your idea by set the contrast/invert by software dont work so. The contrast parameter dont work with all display typ`s (Phillips etc.) But the Inverting works about the Hex String 88 (_FULLSCREEN IF_SET) and C0 (_FULLSCREEN IS_SET) Hope you understand this (My bad English:rolleyes: ) But i also work on a rythmic backlight funktion by software (like 3350). I study it with 3350 5.15. But i must create new menu option.

I cant move options from modell to modell. I can programming new options. (The Ryhtmic Backlight is also a parameter for the Leds) If the option in the MCU i can programm a new Menu Option in PPM for the Backlight. But the Menu make Problem, move the Menu is no Problem but make a new entry is much harder. For T9 in 8210 you must programm the software new. I can`t look for this i have 3330. @ theremoids. Rythmic Backlight is when you have a call the leds blink rythmic to the ringtone.

No with some changed byted its not done. The Function must be complete insert in the MCU. The 3350 MCU and 3330 MCU has the same parameters. I have the function insert, but the menu doesn`t work. The blinking can not be removed. The Inverting works over the _FULLSCREEN string also for the complete Display. The inverting musst be work alone for every screen self. I have not found a way to do this. But i working at this ;)

Just my idea, is it possible to add this thing to send SMS/Messages (invert SMS) if we could add this to unicode on SMS Character ... just like to add Blink Character.... it would be great...

well.. this thing doesn't work with 5510..

enter pin-code screen is inverted, after pic-code phone ask for time & date, and screen is blinking..
in normal mode, screen is normal.
i have blinking message for keypad locked, then it will blink whole screen (invert,normal,invert,normal..)

oh.. now it works fine after restarting when no need to set time..

but how to fix that "set time" bug?

Hi Guys,

i have found a way by invert every screen alone. (It will not blink by set time, write sms etc.) Change 88 to C0 is only _FULLSCREEN for the cursor. And your idea set 00 is _FREEZE_IF_SET. Mean the cursor will freeze. I think this is not the HEX to Invert the Whole Screen. With my new idea the screen is full invert but 4 lines? I think there is the string for display resolution. Im still working at this.

00 _FREEZE IF_SET
...
88 _FULLSCREEN IF_SET
...
C0 FULLSCREEN IS_SET
...
FF ?!?

lol. On mine (see the picture above), a 5 pixels wide horizontal line blinks at right.

The entire screen flashes whenever something is moving! on the menu, when animations start the screen starts flashing!

@ liteFUN FF _FREEZE_IS_SET is the same like 00 _FREEZE_IF_SET. But 00 _FREEZE_IF_SET is programmed by the options from the phone and can be changed FF can not be changed.

@ GeeZuZz Im a programmer. The Nokia Software is mostly written in C like ASM. I study most sites and forums on the Internet. And im working experimental on the Software

No this will not work. The string can not be set by Phone. To do this the Inverting must work over the Eeprom. Than you can set it by Product Profil like 3310->3315.

my 3310 after changing the flash file code,i use ppmedit to fix mcu checksum.and flash it using rolisv4.78.
the screen some time not invert at all.some time it keep on blinking black&white even in the main screen. any solution.:p :mad: :rolleyes: :confused: :eek: :grin: :(

pls help me... i got a nk 3310 i try to modified 3310 flash (200000-3D0000) change 7809 4388 0600 to 7809 43c0 0600 ....but the problem is my screen sometime when not be inverted when i set clock or somebody call me that will remain the same...and will not inverted...so i have to restart ...so that my screen will invert again....may i know is it i modified wrong address(200000-3D0000)???? should i modify using full backup(200000-400000)?? thank u

@jdx1883... that's normal... just go to 'messages > write'... the screen will blink and press the clear button when you see the 'black' screen to bring back the inverted mode... if you want the non-inverted mode, go to 'message > write' again and press the clear button when you see the 'white' screen.

@victor this works at all nokiaphones. But it dont work with 5210. The Software from 5210 have an other Parameter to do this.

It seems like you are really smart, therefore i ask you this question:

Do you know how to update FAID on a 3410? It don't work if the mcu+ppm is modified. As far as i understand, it don't work because there are some extra checksums in 3410 that needs to be calculated. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

I have a 3410, but it aint fun with a phone i can't modify... :) therefore i use my 3310.

@kOuBy2k1 I dont have desassembling the MCU. Im thinking over this, than the routines works like C. I programmed a Tool that based on Hexopcodes and C to modify the Software. But the Nokia Soft is very crazy programmed. Im still working at the menu for the Rythmic Backlight and i can say this very very crazy to understand it.

@GeeZuZz Sorry but i cant say this. For the Time i only work on the 3330 4.16 Software. Im thinking this Checksums are the same like 3330 4.30 -> 4.50. But i cant study this yet at the moment.

i studied the nok5rev page and used IDA and an hexeditor
to code the ARM opcodes..
okay the hex editor wasnt used in this file ;) i needed the
editor in the 5110 file i modified the same way (net bar)
now this all is done by an self written algorithm that finds
the needed functions in the MCU, injects my code and
patches the references to the MCU routines in my code

PPM Manager could not correct the MCU, try to use NOKHEX to correct it.Works 100% for me.:D :D :D

coz each time try to flash the phone, the phone shows local mode or test mode and the stops.... nothing has change in the phone.

haha, i noticed that that 8210 is not t9 chinese, it's only normal pinyin. i dunno lot's thing bout chinese msg, coz i don't know chinese, sorry. also i'ved sold that phone to my fren not long ago.... :)

@prozenlord: How did u do that then (what changes to the string)
also..the 3350 contains the same string (78 09 43 88 06 00) as most phones, but 3410 contains 78 09 42 88 D0 00 as string (I think)
BUT, 3350 & 3410 have the same screens no?

I looked this up..because I was wondering..if we could mod the 3350 firmware with this string to work with an 3310/3330 screen (we'll still another keypad though) ... but its already the same:s

I am Posting Genolite Version 1.7b. To Invert Your LCD, Follow These Steps:

1) Open Genolite
2) Open Your Flash File
3) Click "Patch Fls"
4) Select "Invert LCD"
5) Click "Patch"
6) Save Your File

And Walla!!! Just Flash It To Your Fone For Instant Inverted LCD!!!
