Right. So I brought a Nokia 6820a off of a friend. His Sim Card was on o2 Contract(It's UK by the way) and mine is on o2 pay as you go. When I insert my Sim Card it only finds a Network about 1/5 times, there other times it says "Network Registrartion Failed". Also when it does work, after a while it loses the connection...the time varies, this morning after about 5 hours and it just went overnight last night and hwne I looked this morning it couldn't read the sim.

I thought possibly it was because my Sim card was old, but my friend has a brand new o2 sim and I had the same problem.

I've tried my Mums Vodaphone Contract and it works fine, as does my other friends Vodaphone Pay as you go Sim.

So...any ideas what the problem could be? I don't think it's a Network Block as it worked on a Previous o2 Contract phone and it occasionally decides to work on mine.

I''ve just bought a Vodafont PAYG Sim and it gets a signal fine, it can send & recieve SMS's but it can't call out or recieve calls on this phone...it works on my other phone though...Any idea?

it's got all the symptoms of being blocked, can't make calls but can text is a classic symptom....if your friend claimed under his insurance for the phone for any reason it is blocked as well even though it is not stolen

So the only way around it is the illegal changing the Serial Number?

It's strange how it decides to work sometimes on my o2 card though no? :???:

thats not even an option as the chip is once progammable anyway....would involve taking the thing to bits even if it was legal
