Previously I was using a Nokia 6100, using my data cable and Nokia PC Suit I copied my phonebook, messages and calender from that phone so that I can put it on my new phone, the Nokia 6600.
Problem is there's an error and I can't connect my 6600 to Nokia PC Suit using the Infra-Red adapter I currently have (hopefully it will work when I get my Bluetooth dongle adapter either tomorrow or Wednesday).
So instead, I just used the Microsoft Windows program to send the files to the 6600, which puts them in the phones 'Inbox' as '.ncc' files.
Now when I access this files in the messages in the inbox, it brings up a text document. No option to save the numbers into the contacts, or the dates into the calender or what ever.
Is there a way I can manually do this, i.e. copy the file, using SeleQ, from my inbox and paste it in the phone settings to replace the current ones...?
Otherwise I'll just wait till the bluetooth dongle adapter arrives and do it using PC Suit...

mkay, i only know how to do the contacts, and it's a lil tricky but you can do it manually.
Use seleq. Go to C:\system\Data and scroll down to Contacts.cdb. Now, it won't let you copy or send it straight from the folder cause the phone's using it in the running OS. So, rename the folder "Data" to something else, like Data1. Now go back into the folder, now C:\system\Data1, and use the options to send the file to ur comp via infrared. Once its sent, rename the folder back to Data so you don't F up ur phone. Done.
Sounds like it takes a while but it doesn't, all you have to do is rename the folder twice. I don't know how to do calendar or messages, so ur on ur own there. Hope you get her figured out.
P.S. PC Suite over bluetooth is a bitch. Don't assume it's gonna work; I've never gotten mine to work in the year and a half I've had my phone. Called up the service guys and followed at least 4 different online tutorials and everything. Nada.

Cheers for that, but after this part what do I do? I mean when I send the 'contacts.cdb' that is on the phone via infra-red to my computer, do i then delete the original? And when and where do I put the 'contacts.ncc' file frommy old Nokia 6100? And what about the fact that the file for the 6100 is .ncc' and the 6600 is '.ndb'?

hold ur horses their m8..don't think that the contact file from ur 6100 is possible to be recognized by ur 6600, they both have a different coding, i.e .cdb for 6600 and .ncc for ur 6100.
i previously tried to copy the contacts from my 7610 and transfered it to my n-gage, the contacts.cdb file, and believe me..it f*cked up my ngage, it didn't boot up..keep saying contact retailer, have to flash it for it to be fixed.
so, i would suggest that be careful in transferring system files from other fones wif diferent o/s.
anyway, u could backup ur contacts by saving it on ur sim and then loading it in ur 6600.
cheers!

wow sorry. Didn't know it could be so disastrous. Interesting. Anyway, thx for the warning shadow. I was basing that info on my own contacts saving experiences and what others had told me. twr7cx, i didn't realize you were copyin from a non-series 60 phone, so yeah that won't work. I do it to save my contacts on my 3650. Idk, I guess it just won't transfer phonebook, calendar, etc. from series 40 to series 60. It doesn't seem like it would. Sorry.
