Hey all. My cousin bought a phone second hand last week. Its locked to a network but I don't know which one. I need it to unlock it. Does anyone know of a way to get the network from the phone?

Check your GPRS settings to see which Network you are locked too

it might be hard to check the GPRS settings in the phone unless u have a data cable hooket up to a PC to read the phone.

I've no data cable and I also don't have the sim card that the phone came with. Is there any code you can type that'll tell you?

Yes you do if the phone is locked and you dont know which carrier it is locked to/dont have sim cards to test.

On my phone I can go into "WWW Services" and alter both WAP and GPRS settings

As I have said, I have a phone with no sim card thats locked to a network. I don't know what network it is locked to so I can't get a sim card to check the settings. I don't have a cable to connect to the phone. And if I knew what networks sim card I needed I wouldn't need the sim card as I could unlock it.

as we have previously stated...those are the only ways you MAY find out......

your only option now is to take it to a shop who can unlock it direct ...they do not need to know the netwrok to do this ...

otherwise ..give up !!

next time u buy a fone, think about finding out this info before you actually purchase the handset.
