Hi Guys,

I've spent a week going through tutorials and searching through the forum to find an answer as to why I cannot flash my 6210.
Using Knok (with 2100 support) I've done the following:

Selected the 'Read' menu from the title bar
Clicked on the 'Read fullflash and store as FLS' option
When Knok prompts to press the power button I've plugged in my charger (I've also tried pressing the power button ... same result)
After about 30 seconds I get "Cannot prepare phone" message box.

I've also tried using Rollis v 4.79 build (001). After selecting 6210 from the dropdown, I press the green button. It then displays 'Press power on shortly' in the status window. At this point I plug in my charger ...... 30 minutes later and nothing! Status bar still displays 'Press power on shortly'.

I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 98 second edition. The parallel port is set to ECP in the bios and I've connected my flasher cable to it.

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong ... my heads starting to hurt after hitting the wall so many times.

I would really appreciate you help.

Test the flasher cable in another computer, or with another phone, or test the LPT port with any other device (printer maybe)

Try to get another connector or try other connectors with other phones

this are just lucky shots :)

I've tested the parallel port using a printer and that's working fine. I've also tried another 6210, same result as mentioned earlier. I've not tried the flasher cables on another machine yet .. I've only got one 98 machine. I will need to install and configure UserPort on my NT machine.
This is doing my head in .... there has to be a simple answer .... could it be the cheap flasher cables? But Knok and Rollis are supposed to work with these cheap flasher cables from what I've read in all the tutorials?

looks like it's a cable problem if you're getting same result with another 6210

sometimes cables get bad soldering or shorthing. It happens even with expensive boxes and flashing devices :o

try to test phone with other cables

When I was making my first steps in this area I was using lap top too...I had same problems as U...then one good day I read a topic close to Urs..the problems is with port levels...U are doing everything ok...just lap top has lower current level...if U try same with a desk top PC U will not have this problem...same is with lap top com ports....
Good luck!

I managed to get hold of another set of DCT3 flasher cables last night ... and guess what .... all is working fine!

I've been able to use Knok to backup and flash my 6210.

It's been frustrating but a good learning experience.

Thanks for your help guys. :D
