In my country there are other emergency numbers except for 112. Two years ago there was a bug it the software of one of the operators. If you were on their net, entered the emergency number+your chosen number, you could make a phone call - and wonder - for free. This news was spreading like a chain reaction, and four hours later the bug was fixed and anyone trying the above trick landed at the emergency service center. The originator and others were accused for blocking the emergency channels, etc..
Plan A: :cool:This suggests, that the emergency tag could be exploited. Somehow.
Plan B: :oImagine your friend is just across the street. Why use the greedy operator to call him? Theoretically, it could be posible to modify the soft of the phone in conjuction with a radiotechnician to call the other cell directly. I know the frequencies used to communicate the cell to the base station are different from those used from base to cell. By modifying both phones, we could convert the cells into 'walkie-talkies' bypassing the operator, or use him to locate the called cell. Sounds good? :D
