ok, i have an old 8210, its all good except for cracked lcd. i have a spare 3310 lcd here, and i'd like to know if its possible to use the 3310 lcd on 8210. i am not going to use it as a normal phone, so the pin spacings dont matter. it will be a test style board. thanks

I beg to differ

I am thinking the LCD resolution is the same right?
So you could easily solder wires out from the PCB to the back of the screen

But you will need the pinout for the screen and phone

@mates,

3310 LCD from left to right

1 Reset
2 V Out
3 Vss
4 LCD -Enable
5 D/-C
6 DATA
7 Clock
8 VDD

8210 has 9 pins, I think.

3310 has bigger LCD than 8210.

well, i found the pinouts for both 3310 and 8210 lcd, and found that pin 6 on 8210 is for external clock. 3310 has this built in. ?? i think ?? anyway. i soldered a 3310 lcd to 8210 board skipping pin 6 on the board and it worked. but then i got crazy and tried to fit the 8210 case on it. * crack * oops, there goes the screen. but yes, it can be done. and i will do it again when i get another spare 3310 lcd, this time i will be more carefull with the case though.

You may also want to convert you 8210 to 2100
This is possible by a screen change and firmware change to 2100

The screen change is necessary because the 2100 has a higher resolution than the 8210

oh, cool. thanks for that bit of info. i knew that the 8210 and 2100 were close, but not close enough for firmware upgrade. i might give that a try. what is the resolution of the 2100 do u know? and im guessing i will lose IR.
