Im a newbie and I know it sounds kinda stupid because lots of people ask this but exactly how do you upgrade a 3310 to a 3350. i know you have to change a chip and screen and keypad. I've read many posts about probloms but none with great detail starting from scratch. I read a great post about explaining eeprom and mcu ect. What will i need? A Flasher cable i suppose but what software, where to get firmware ect. I had a 3310 with a broken screen and a what seems dead 3410. I put the screen board on the 3310 and now i have the higher resolution screen currently using part of the total resolution and the 3410 keypad. two buttons are unused. Could i take a chip from the dead 3410 to help? I think it mightn't be the same as the 3350 or its causing the phone not to work. When you turn it on the screen stays black and the phone freezes. I have no real interest in fixing it.
Sorry for the long post.
All help greatly appreciated.

Actually i read about newer 3310's having 4mb chips. Is this just a rumour or is it a true scam selling 3330's flashed as a 3310's. My 3310 was bought with v6.07. I also have a 3330 board but i don't use it cause it broke with alot of probloms such as freezing at gamesa and calculator and broken screen and "insert sim card" randomly. I attacked it with a screw driver and didn't throw it away. Maybe it could be of use as only a few chips are gone or maybe its not cause i threw it around too much.

This is not so
I had a friend who bought a brand new 3310 a few months ago it had v6.33 on it I think and it had the 3350 layout board but only a 2mb chip

If you change the flash chip then you can indeed upgrade but only after you change that and it is a tricky task not really for a newbie

You can of course upgrade your 3310 to a 3315
I suggest searching for this
or refer to our FAQ

It might be too hard but i don't really care if i breal it as i have three 3310 boards from friends who broke theirs or got new phones. it may be difficult and you don't have to explain it, maybe you know a link to a tutorial or something

You'll only waste your time! The 3310 is not much different from the 3350 anyway! Nor is the 3410 for that matter, but IF you got the chips changed and you DID manage to get it operating, you'd have spent hours of frustrating work and now have a totally stuffed 3410! So, I suggest you invest your time trying to repair the 3410! Trust me!
