Hiya,
I was bored and decided to write a flash joiner type thing
You'll need the VB6 runtimes
Hope you'll find it useful
It's for simply joining say an MCU and PPM into 1 output file

hmmm I think Bill Gates beat you to it when he wrote MSDos...
copy /b mcu.fls+ppm.fls newname.fls does the trick ;)
lol

ps. no offence intended :D

Yahoo at last something that doesn't need DOS now the idiots (read co-worker) will be able to flash phones for themselfs.
Just a suggest for the next version split the join button in two and make the one on the right exit the progam

Yes i understand it takes a second or two in dos but hey how many posts have we seen where newbies are like "erm DOS, whats that?" - its annoying so i just threw this together to help em out
Thanks for the input guys though :)

Find attached latest version with Exit button and error handling to check whether the file exists

Isn't it very nice when people use some code you write in one of their programs without mentioning your name. :o

how hard it can be using MS-DOS?
without MS-DOS, there is no Windows.
has somebody tried windows 2.x?
it really rocks, it's like dosshell :)
but enhanced, you can play reversi and some other games.
all you who think you don't need ms-dos:
delete \windows\command directory, then delete msdos.sys, io.sys, command.com from c:\.
can you survive?

Well DOS is not hard for computer literate people but some people who I have had to work for they barely know windows.
I have had support question over the most stupid of things
like
"Ok whats the problem"
"Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."
"What sort of trouble?"
"Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."
"Went away?"
"They disappeared."
"Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."
"Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?"
"How do I tell?"
"Can you see the C:\ prompt on the screen?"
"What's a sea-prompt?"
"Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?"
"There isn't any cursor. I told you, it won't accept anything I type."
"Does your monitor have a power indicator?"
"What's a monitor?"
"It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?"
"I don't know."
"Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?"
"Yes, I think so."
"Great! Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall."
"Yes, it is."
"When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?"
"No."
"Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."
"Okay, here it is."
"Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."
"I can't reach."
"Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?"
"No."
"Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?"
"Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle -- it's because it's dark."
"Dark?"
"Yes, the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window."
"Well, turn on the office light then."
"I can't."
"No? Why not?"
"Because there's a power outage."
"A power . . . a power outage? Aha! Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?"
"Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."
"Good! Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."
"Really? Is it that bad?"
"Yes, I'm afraid it is."
"Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?"
"Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

Ha ha good point
I know without DOS we'd be in shit, but we aren't saying we don't like it!
Al we're saying is that newbies aren't capable of using dos easily especially if say your files are in c:\nokia stuff\
So it'd be:
c:\copy /b c:\nokias~1\mcu.fls etc etc
So in my mind i did it (with a wee bit of help from mrbig) to help the new peeps, cos running this and entering the two input files and output is easier than via dos
If ya prefer DOS so be it :)

well, i dont see any problem why we should criticize the work of a man who's intention is good....maybe its no use to you but how about the others who need it specially the newbies...well maybe ur just thinking of urself, a program that will only be useful to u! Slikmik's work was not intended to replace the DOS....i think u need a heavy...not a lite FUN!

i truely agree with markaidestine and slikmik, there's nothing wrong even how simply the thing is as long as the intention is good. anyway here's another one created by a friend, a wintesla to dejan converter plus joiner for windowz, completely idiot proof. :)

slikmik: handy little app!
I'm a n00b in programming, and i want to make a very simple program. Have you got a tip? I suppose your program is not very hard to make - can you give me the source code so i can see how you made it?
I'm not trying to steal your program or something like that, i just want to see how such program is made... :)

Hmm...
 nice little joke there cprafferty :)
Some people are like that, especially since most people started using a computer since Windows 98 was released or maybe a little after that, so that would mean that they most probably wouldn't know what the dos shell actually looks like except for the part where the the Starting Windows screen flashes or even prior to that... The reason for B. Gates advancing with his OS was so that anybody could use it, it's just a simple click this and click that system, even the most narrow minded won't have a hard time figuring out how to work with it :)
Personally I started using a computer when Windows 3.1 was released, so am familiar with MS DOS 4.0 and so on, however there is no need to criticise others. You might own a mobile phone and know how to unlock it, flash it, etc, but your friend whom also owns a mobile might not even know what a flash is, etc, so would you still critacize him/her?
liteFun, do you know how to pragram in Excell? It's a program most if not all people with Windows uses, it's very easy for someone that knows what they're doing.
Cheers,
-Dave

Ok ive been bored recently and aint a programming genius and cant do owt complicated like Joox or g3n0lite but have made several cheapo handy little apps though for use with windoze, so take a look at my ftp, plus lots of people have been kind enough to upload lots THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!!!
Soon it shall be better than ever a resource for all :)
And im not using my upload bandwidth for anything else so i dedicate it to Nfree :D
Have fun

Hmm...
It's nice to see skilled people like yourself thinking of others (namely computer illiterate, asmongst others) and creating simple tasks that take away the complication of learning a 'new language' (that's what dos is to most).
Keep up the good work slikmik ;)
Back in the day where Internet wasn't publicized and BBS's were our means of cummunicating with others via computer and 3.1 was my OS, I remember downloading tonnes of DOSSHELL-related tools/substitues because I didn't know how to use DOS much, but dosshell actually forced me to learn how to use dos... then came filemanager in 3.11 (or if it already existed in 3.1 I probably wouldn't use it, it was headache to use, 'format' in dos was easier then using filemanager, i remember that  ) from 3.1/3.11 for workgroups I jumped to 95, where I would still use more dos then i would the explorer, 95 explorer sucked big time, along comes 98 and i start to use explorer more then dos, 2000/ME/XP... it wasn't until july this year that I found out that the dos shell was named 'cmd.com' instead or 'command.com' hehe I thought they just left it out :P
