Help - e710 battery not charging and keypad heating up

I just got an e710 off a guy on ebay, but on receiving it today, I find that it does not power on and the batteries do not seem to charge.

Also when charger is plugged in, the keypad starts to heat up.

Anyone any ideas on how to fix this problem ???

Is it the battery or the keypad emitting the heat?

After opening the case, I think the heat is coming from just above the charger insertion point at the base ofthe phone. Basically on the underside of the mainboard, at about the number 7 key on the phone .

Does that make sense ???
