Hi to everyone!

I'm MTL, 22yr, from Finland.

I started my electronics hobby when I was 12, and now I'm designing security-electronics ( Electonic-keycard solutions, and whatever needed)

I have allso started studying and building Tesla-coils about half year ago.
Wery interesting devices, but not wery friendly for user other electronic devies /n/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I started with GSM's about one year ago.
For me GSM's are just a hobby (and usefull communications device offcourse), I have never made money with any GSM related stuff.

I really ever havn't unolcked a GSM phone, in Finland it is illegal for operators to sell locked phones.
So there is no need for unlocking in my country /n/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Thanks to everyone who share their knowledge!!

Alright,

I´m Joey 25 yrs old, living in The Netherlands.
I´ve got interested in mobile phones since I was 19 years old. I bought a phone through my fathers work for almost nothing. Then I started buying and selling laptops as hobby. With the money I made with that, I started buying newer phones (always Nokia, and never anything else because I think Nokia has the most friendly phones, and the best phones with lots of options).
When I could buy a Nokia 3210 prepaid with simlock for about 35 euro I could not leave it behind. I bought a datacable, starting to experiment with the phone. (changing logo´s ringtones etc).
Next step was unlocking phones, and now updating en language changing.

Gsm is just a hobby (4-5 hrs a week), I work at a supermarket.

Thanx for sharing your knowledge...

Hi, NokDoc here.

- Profile:
34, Quality Control at offshore steel constr comp. R'dam, Holland.
I hate television except Discovery channel.

- Me & Nokia:
Pure addiction or instinct, I really can't say.
Like a pitbull without teeth, but still despirate to try, 4-6 hours a day.

- My intention:
Relating every bit inside a flash file to their function.
In this way I can train myself in all aspects in pc and Nokia.
And to meet guys like you, everyone I know think I'm weird with this Nokia thing.
Learn together, discover and develop new possibilities.

- My problem:
It's either 0 or 1!
Lack of training in pc/ Nokia or programming related things, but learning, no matter if it last a lifetime.
Expressing my points of view and the technical terms that should belong to it.
I was a real loner, couldn't ask noone so I always had to try to solve things my own way.

- My tools:
I'm a very basic man, some flashfiles, hex editor and VB4 will do.
I do use some programs, but more to study their functions.

- Current activity:
Analysing the data inside the other ppm chunks for creating ideas on modifications here.

- Finally my tribute to Mr. ViperBJK and/ or this Forum:
Somehow I blame you for my addiction, for me it started with seeing the hex numbers in nFree program some year ago.
Respect, Good Job!

- The Mr. thing? (nothing personal Cindy)

Well......very nice people here......
Abe from Croatia,23.......
Unlocking phones since the only solution was by eeprom dump......forgot the year...4-5......
As the situation here was extremely bad after war,i began unlocking and selling phones......mostly from Austria and Germany...but from Italy too......
Since the phones were too expensive then and providers began to sell prepaid cards.....
My first fu**ed phone was c25 with "destroyed by c25 unlocker" message on the screen.......
At that time only friend i got was KIMA (big thanx to him)......
So i started to make some experiments with the phone and helped other people with that problem...so igot more friends.......
I had my own web and everything was free untill dejan flasher came out and i was selling cables with software, all partials and all repair files...so i started member section but i closed it soon because i had too much work on the other side of my life....(not GSM).....
So thats all.....i came back in july.........thats all........
I have learned much in repairing phones because i got too many broken phones from other people that started to unlock here in my city and other cities near me...........
And,by the way, i repaired my C25 after 6 MONTHS so a message to all:
Be patient when you f**k a phone.....sooner or later you will repair it.......

BIG thanx to all people here that mentioned me in this topic..........
And keep working and finding solutions not only asking for........
I personally f****d lots of phones just to find a solution to repair it and after that share my knowledge and help others......
One more thing........im sorry to say but there is so much people that asks you help, software, solution etc. and you give it to him for free, but when he gots some soft that you dont have abd you really need it he wants to sell it to you??????
@!#$ YOU ALL MENTIONED ABOVE!!!!!!!!
To others like Iccang,Mehdi,Yasser,Gianni,o_Mast,MTL!!,Kontact and please others dont be angry if i stop here because there are so much nice guys here in this forum and this post is too long now......
So,good luck to all people in unlocking ,repairing but in friendships also..........
Regards from ABE.........

Abe
16-03-2002, 01:51 AM
And one more thing.......dont be angry with me sometimes when im suspicious in sending some software or helping when someone mails me........ to much time in this buisiness learned me not to trust to everyone and not to help everyone.......
Believe me.....i know what im talking about.......
Ask older members of GSM WORLD....and you will see......
And i'm not talking about this forum's members ....im talking about lots of s**t people all over the net.......
Sorry for this words.......Regards..........

DavieB
16-03-2002, 02:06 AM
Hey guys, Nice to get some info on you all /n/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I'm David (DavieB) B. I'm 16 and live in Glasgow, Scotland. I've been into computer for half my life, programming, hardware, etc.
I really started getting into Nokia (and GSM on the whole) about 2 years ago... Now I'll play with any phone I can get my hands on!
I don't have a business or shop, I do it purely for the learning and the knowledge (yeap, oldskool style - none of this money hungry stuff!). Of course I do unlock locally (just for friends or anyone who needs it done!) but don't really sell anything.

I've not had the money to invest in GSM stuff (since it is more of a hobby than a business) but I find that if you avoid those one click solutions you may make less (or no!) money but you learn a HEAP more. Compare what you learn from jethro and what you learn from dejan soft - big difference!

I'm just really getting into reversing and Comms stuff so if anyone had advice on these subject let me know! I'm interested in writing my own software (maybe by examining other softwares functions!) for the phone - Siemens in particular as I have one to test with just now and have notice that there isn't an abundance of software for x35!

I really don't wanna do a "hi" list because I know I'd be missing out a LOT of people who i know and/or respect. Hi to all who know me, Big hi to o_Mast and Yasser for mentioning me here /n/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Even if we haven't talked, theres still many on the forums who I respect and would like to thank for great work on the scene! We need to keep the knowledge flowing - enough of this money-making stuff - sell your software (YES!) but at least give details or source snippets so those interested enough can make their own!!! /n/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Respect to the forums!

good day!

tutz (2tz/dgtlbrd)

ive been an avid visitor on this forum for my interest/s in cellular phones. ive got only two units, 3210 (broken"not charging") & 3310, married, 34, have one set computer using it to augment a meager salary through phone repair (software side only), novice corel graphic addict. painter/artist from philippines.

my area has 4 or 5 cellrepair shops, quite hard to compete coz im financially handicapped, so all i get are "crumbs" from these repair shops, that is if i can repair them.

MY SINCERE THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE HERE AT THE FORUM. YOU GUYS ARE SECOND TO NONE, DONT WANT TO MENTION (PSEUDO)NAMES COZ ALL OF YOU HAVE REALLY GONE OUT TO SHARE THE PUREST KNOWLEDGE ON PHONE REPAIRS.
I GET ALL THE IDEAS AND SOFTWARES FOR FREE, HOPE IN TIME TO SHARE WHAT I CAN TOO.

GOOD DAY AND FEELIN' GREAT IN THE COMPANY OF THE GREATEST MINDS IN CELLULAR PHONES.

Oh crap, seems to me I'm the oldest of the bunch, I'm 33 years old from the Philippines. My name is david, I maintain a mobilephone retail shop. I'm very much fascinated with electronics, and now, I'm into cellphone repair. Not so much for the extra income, but from the satisfaction of being able to fix a mobilephone problem which other so called repair shops can't fix, and see the look of satisfaction from our clients. I studied hardware repair for a while, been doing repair for 3 months, but I still have a lot to learn. Software related problems are much easier to solve and detect especially now, with all the help we get from great friends here, and advancements in the softwares given to us. However, it seems to me that there are not so much hardware related topics in the forum, that's why I was inclined to create a yahoo groups for that. However, if we can somehow initiate some threads specifically concentrated on hardware problems, then its a big plus to all members of the phorum. Like start a thread on hardware problems - lcd, or hardware problems - not charging, etc. More power to the forum and all the contributors here.

Hi I'm from Glasgow and started in the television repair business about 10 years ago - hence the name - yes I'm fat too:)

Now I still do TVs but have branched into CCTV. I've been playing with GSM mobiles for a couple of years - mainly as I know more computer stuff than my mate, an ex Motorola tech who got me interested in the repair side. I try to keep him up to date with software, and show him how not to break the phones - he gives me hardware to play with.

Running the business does keep me pretty occupied but I like to take time out to try different things and when I can to contribute to things that interest me.

Been servicing computer, radio, mobile phone and laser gear for about 4 years.

Its great fun to take a large argon and light a cigarette off the laser in front of people who have never seen them before.

on my desk tonight, a nokia 3310, a 5110, an 8210 and a motorola gp 300 hand held radio all to be upgraded.

Hi,
36/student @ OIT, Oregon, USA/have ASEET, studying for BSEET/Engineering Technician 4/9 years exp as technician

Know not much about cell phones and providers, a good deal about some communications protocols, slight amount of casual CDMA technology knowledge. Build lots of bench prototypes using SMT technology for high speed circuits.

This looks like a good place for technical people, not board blasting idiots and self-important fakes.

Hi there, I am Dave 23yo from Australia. I found out about this flashing stuff by accedent seaching the web on flashing SMS's and found this forum and read it every day to learn how flashing works the easyest progames to use. Them I started collecting prorames bought a data cable for picture messages, etc. and soon that wasn't enough so I bought a flasher cable and now I update friends phones and they're ammased. Hi Everyone!

I run a cellular business in Missouri in the U.S. (Would it be appropriate for me to apologize now for this country's current foreign policies???)

Electronics has always been a hobby and I had two years of electronics training, mainly targeting broadcast electronics.
I've sold cellular service for just over 10 years and have gone through analog to TDMA and the carrier we sell for is switching to CDMA this summer. The carrier provided TDMA flashing software and dongle for us over a year ago, but almost immediately discontinued updates for new phones.

I've always enjoyed experimenting with phones and making what repairs that I could for my customers. I've had fair success with repair of liquid damaged phones.

Thanks to everyone for the information you provide and thanks to the website operators for an excellent site.

Where have you been all my life????

Have been searching for
you for many years now.

But there is SOO many
pages about Nokias,
and all of them about
"secret codes" and "unlocking".

Have had lots of project -
my first one was a Benefon MAX NMT450.
Was only new and bigger batteries then ;)
Now I fix mostly hardware problems,
have tried on phone software but it is
difficult without anyone telling me howto...

Have been doing some SMD soldering,
changing LED's on quite a number of
phones, changed displays, done some
electronic repairing and everyone gives me
their broken phones - look forward to play
with them now taht i know how to flash... ;)

Ok, by the way, my name is David, I'm 24,
living up north in the ::brr:: cold ::brr:: part of Norway, spring is on it's way -
but it's still cold... Will go skiing this weekend -
3 days trip on a mountain and over a glacier.
Nature is perfect here!!!

Have started on some flash projects -
will share them if they are good.
My head has lot's of ideas - now they
can COME TRUE!!! YIPPEE

SO EXITED!!!

Hi everyone, I am Obet Borlongan, am a Filipino and working here as a Teaching Technician in the Audio Visual Department in Dubai, UAE.
Have been here since 1991. This is just a hobby. It all started when I went back to the Phils in Feb. My 6510 would not accept a diff sim card and I forgot my security code. Lots of dudes back home do phones for a living. I was browsing my WAP when I found a guy selling cables and software for Nokia phones, bought a set for DCT-3 and that got me interested.
Now I have all the cables for all the phones from DCT-3 to DCT-4. I even have the box to flash PPM and MCU. Purchased them from U-Cables. They are very good.
I have since upgraded to a 7250, but we have got the following phones in the family..3310 3510i 5510 6110 6510 6610 7110 and 8210.
I often just change language update software, load ringtones, logos, polyphonics and colored pics. have not made a single cent yet.. I just do it free for friends.

I would like to THANK all those who have been helpful to me and others. Those who unselfishly posted and shared ideas, answers, techniques and software.

MORE POWER TO THE GROUP!

I' Thanh, or (full name german) Frank Thanh Thai or (full name vietnamese) Thai Ngoc Hue Thanh, from germany, adopted by vietnamese, now living in Bangkok since december 2000 with my thai boyfriend Aod. Yup, i'm gay.
28 years old, infected with the GSM virus since 1999 and yet not doing much besides trying to keep up with the technology (currently - 6610 with my BF getting 7250 tomorrow, yai!) . My profession is IT technician, i fix PC's on the hardware side and also (hobby) fix mobiles, also on hardware side (displays, LED's, even chips. I am good at the soldering iron and with bigger tools (german education - electrician AND car mechanic, yes!). My computer knowledge comes from pure interest, nobody ever taught me anything... no bull, now i work as IT tech :) Well, other hobbies... music (all sorts except hiphop and metal), reading, my car (Volvo 460), CB radio.... what i hate? TELEVISION (makes people stupid, fact), people that take but don't give, selfishness, racism of any kind. I thank all the peoples here in the foerum that helped me at various occassions, even i just started here a month ago... specially the guy who recommended me phonefun4u, thanks to him (and THEM, of course!) i got the nicest wallpaper in the world on my 6610! Hi guys,
My name is Yogesh and I live in the capital city of India, Delhi. I started from a siemens phone and then soon shifted to then new Samsung R220. From there on I was a true fan of samsung phones and I used most of them like A200, A400, Truei. After using Truei, in Jan this year I purchased my first ever nokia, the 6610, and the day I purchased that phone I fell in love with it. Today nokia phones are my first and last choice. I'm soon going to purchase a new nokia phone, but still confused between 3650 and 7250. I love 3650 for everthing but I hate it's big looks and awkward styling. I believe that beauty never expires in simplicity.

Only after purchasing my 6610 I searched net for a suitable place to answer all my newly found characterstics of the 6610, like MMS, Wallpapers, and specially Java. Soon I discovered NokiaFREE and a regular visitor since. I love NokiaFREE.

Long Live NokiaFREE...
Love,

I find this is an extrememly useful forum-NOKIAFREE, great work by all the contributors and participants as well !
AND this particular thread "INTRODUCE YOURSELF" by Kid is really a very great idea. Thanks, KiD !
To all, keep it up and up and up.
As some great person has rightly said "It helps yourself to help somenoe else" . Of course, the participants here mostly know it.

It really does seem as though no one from the US is here by reading this thread. lol. I'm new to the GSM mod'ing world, though I've used GSM phones for a few years. Just got interested in all the differant things you could do the other day when I wanted to get the phone I bought my fiancee unlocked off of Cingular. (eBay's a lot cheaper than buying a new phone :-p) I found this site due to the free unlock codes (though I ended up deciding not to wait for someone to take the time to figure it out and payed for someone to generate them for me, I deal with her complaining enough as it is lol) and started looking around. I know am getting another pair of phones and a f/mbus cable from eBay (might as well for only $10) and still looking for a flasher cable.
I've been interested in pretty much any electronics. Played with an old-school Commodore VIC-20 whenever I was old enough to hold a joystick or press keys and a Commodore 64 when I was about 6. Learned programming on it before giving it up for something or other and been regretting it lately. Now I have a half dozen or so computers and a few servers that I'm not allowed to run in the house 'cuz they'll use to much energy *lol*
I'm currently a certified computer technician, taking classes for "Computer Information and Communications Technologies" with a concentration in Network Administration. (Sounds so important and long doesn't it?)
Currently jobless as I'm no longer living at home and instead bumming off my fiancee and her family watching my daughter while she's at work and crap! I'm late to go pick her up actually, so I'm cutting this short.
Oh yeah, I'm 21.
If I remember, I'll come back and post more.
Caio.

I am Sergei and have little knowledge of GSM phones, but I am going to try and learn more about them since I will be travelling through Europe for a while.

This site looks like a good place to learn things from.
