Hi all,

I'm having trouble finding a correct unlock code for my Nokia 6230 on Cingular in Boston, MA. I think the problem may be related to the provider code I was using at first... Details are as follows:

PHONE = Nokia 6230
IMEI = <removed>
CARRIER = Cingular Wireless (Boston, MA, USA)
PROVIDER CODE / MCC-MNC = 31041000 (...or is it *really* 31017000???)
ASIC = Type 2
BOX SERIAL = 33820 (V2)

I was originally using provider code "31017000", as that's the code offered by ALL the code gen programs when selecting "Cingular" from a drop-down list of providers... Based on that, I tried the 7th and then the 1st codes:

#pw+849 941 673 731 043+7#
#pw+847 541 176 557 545+1#

No luck. Then I started to question the provider code, as it's usually shown as "Cingular - Pacific Bell" or something like that on drop-down lists... Cingular HERE, in Boston, has NEVER been Pac Bell... So, after poking around a bit, I found this list:
http://www.csoft.co.uk/cgi-bin2/coverage_list.pl?ISO=US
On that list are several provider codes for Cingular, and the one that would seem most appropriate for ME is "31041000". So, armed with this new info, I gen'd new unlock codes, and tried the 7th one:

#pw+138 544 761 627 444+7#

STILL no luck!! Now I'm paranoid, and don't want to lock myself out. Even though I *think* I'm doing this right now, and I think I'm using the right stuff, I'd appreciate if someone could confirm what I should try next... Should I stick with the same stuff? Should I try a different provider code or box serial?? If left to my own devices, I'd try the 1st code gen'd by my second attempt next (but I'm afraid!):

#pw+038 063 660 612 660+1#

Also, I just read the sticky about the "new 6230 calc" (http://nokiafree.org/forums/t66274/h/s.html) and looked at that calc... I noticed it actually uses ASIC 6 and box serial 32821 w/the 6230... Can someone please point me in the right direction WRT what provider code, ASIC type, etc. I should be using?

Please help if you can! Thank you!

for n6230 you should use the UEM ASIC 6, and the ASIC 6 box serial 32821

is not a big help.. but ...i will give a look one company codes to see wat can i find...

well you got 5 codes on this page give a shot... player?.. lol

here in portugal the company codes are related to phone numbers like this:

country code for company codes for:

Portugal --> 268 - 01000 <-- Vodafone
Portugal --> 268 - 03000 <-- Optimus
Portugal --> 268 - 06000 <-- TMN

as you see code for the companys:

TMN is 06 and all phone numbers of this company start by 96xxxxxxx

Optimus is 03 and all phone numbers of this company start by 93xxxxxxx

Vodafone is 01 and all phone numbers of this company start by 91xxxxxxx

maybe in your country is similar who knows?

have been searching and found this:

Operator Name: Cingular Wireless
Network Name: Cingular Wireless
Technology: GSM 1900
Handset Code: Cingular
Network Code: 310 150,170,410
Network Status: Live July 1996
Web Site: www.cingular.com

now you have 3 network codes:

31015000
31017000
31041000

leave it up to you

I have a 6230 on Cingular and had to use box code 32802 to get it to work.
Same thing with a 6820 that was locked to AT&T. Changing the box code to 32802 did the trick.

Also, you can go ahead and use 310-170 for the Cingular code.

If you are using Cruz 2.0 change the box code and then enter your info...thats where I generated this code from.

when it says you have five tries to get the unlock code right, is it five tries TOTAL, or 5 in a row?

cos when i was trying to unlock my 6210e and 6310i im sure i must've done it more than 5 times on the 6310i, but i turned the phone off between each try... but they both unlocked fine in the end and i didnt get a "not allowed" message after the few failed attempts

i will be trying to unlock my 6320 later today... (currently locked to UK Orange)
