I have a dilemma. When I still had a 7610, I bought a 512mb RS-MMC, thinking that I can use it on any nokia handset that uses MMC as long as the adapter is there, and I thought that future phones from nokia would use RS-MMC... But I'm wrong, the 6630 uses Dual Voltage RS-MMC... So I was thinking if I would just sell my RS-MMC because I want to buy a 6630 and I don't want to go back to 6600 (previously I had one) and also 7610. It didn't say in the nokia website of 6630 that it uses a DV RS-MMC but owners of 6630 and reviews confirmed it uses DV RS-MMC... And now I saw the 3230. I haven't sold my RS-MMC because I'm hoping it would be compatible with the RS-MMC that I bought. This is what's written in http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,8764,66092,00.html which the website for nokia 3230.

Video
Capture video clips up to one hour with 32 MB MMC card
Resolution of videos: Q-CIF (176 x 144 Pixel)
Video capture: H.263 (16.7 million/24-bit color)

and also

Sales Package Contents

Nokia Battery BL-5B, Li-Ion 760 mAh
Nokia Standard Charger ACP-7 (Nokia Travel Charger ACP-12 in selected countries)
Nokia Headset HDS-3
Nokia 32 MB RS MultiMediaCard (MMC)
User Guide

But I think there was an error in the video part so the 3230 really uses RS-MMC. Now I'm wondering before I can sell my 512mb RS-MMC. Will it use the DV RS-MMC that is used by 6630? It doesn't say in the nokia 3230 website and it didn't say in the nokia 6630 website as well but the 6630 uses it anyway. Should I sell my 512mb RS-MMC now before the price really goes down? And the problem is, DV RS-MMC are not yet sold in very high capacities. I want a 512mb one because I liked watching my fave movies on my phone. On my RS-MMC there were about 6 full movies using SmartMovie. Now it's just lying around in my room because I haven't decided whether to sell it and buy a 6630 or wait for the 3230 and have high hopes that it would be compatible with it. But if it wouldn't be compatible, I will really have a hard time selling it in a fair price by then. So guys, what do you think? What do you predict? Will it be compatible with any RS-MMC or only with the DV RS-MMC? Thank you very much for reading my very long post.

By the way: I already sold my 7610.

Nokia seems to be doing this to advance the technology and make their phones more efficient (DV RSMMC consumes less battery); the DV cards will probably become standard for Nokia. Since the 6630 uses DVRSMMC and the 3230 is so similar to the 6630, my guess is the 3230 will use the DV cards. But those won't be out until the beginning of next year, so don't bother worrying about it until then.

Now, why is it Nokia can use a DV card and not tell you the phone requires it? Because they state that they only support Nokia brand cards and can't support or ensure that other cards will work. Smart on Nokia's part.

Finally, I wouldn't get the 6630. I'd wait for the 3230 at the beginning of next year when the DVRSMMC cards come out. The 3230 is supposed to cost 350 at release, while the 6630 costs at least 500 without a plan now. Then again, you already sold your 7610, so I guess you're lookin for a phone sooner. Either way, good luck with your decision.

P.S. An abbreviation can no longer be considered abbreviated when it's SEVEN F---ING LETTERS.... D V R S M M C. It's like it's own damn word... deviaresememsi...

Reading your post, I can see that your guess is that the 3230 will use DV RS-MMC like the one being used by 6630 now. If that's the case, I would really want to be sure first before selling my 512mb rs-mmc. I don't want to have a hard time selling my 512mb rs-mmc next year in a good price. Last month, I bought it at a price of 4000 Philippine Pesos. I don't want to sell it next year at half the price of that (2000 PhP). This month, I can still sell it at a fair price of 3000 PhP. If I waited until March (worst case scenario, because the website says during 1st quarter - that's January to March), and I found out that it uses any RS-MMC, and I already sold my 512mb rs-mmc this December, then I wouldn't want to buy a 512mb rs-mmc again, would I? I wonder if Nokia will honestly answer me if I email them and ask if the nokia 3230 will use DV RS-MMC.

More predictions please, guys...

It could easily go either way.

Nokia may use the dvrsmmc on all their phones from now on

or

The parts needed to use dvrsmmc's might be slightly more expensive since it's newer and since the 3230 is the budget version of the 6630 they might've went with the old, cheaper technology.

3230 uses symbian 8.0a not 7.0s as 7610.the main differences from 6630 are 3G on 6630 and radio + ptt on 3230.i think the other features are the same.
