Hi

Does anyone know the solution to these 3310 turning off by themselfs?
I have upgraded the software firstly to v5.57 then down to v4.35 but they still turn themselfs off!! can be a day later or just a few mins but without fail off they go!! i have 2 of these now that have this problem but it does not seem to be software probs.

Does anyone know of a cure that works??
Many thanks
Andrew

thanks but it is not the battery, have already swapped batterys with a known good one and cleaned the contacts both on the battery side and the phone board side, I have 2 phones that have this problem, others are ok so i know it is not the software in them
Thanks

you shouldnt need to change the CCONT IC as this is usually a problem that can be fixed by replacing a resistor with a different value in the power controll section of the phone. there is a instruction manual around the board for exact instructions or you could do a google search for it. just look for
3310 auto power off repair

yes wfc thats true but just for ver. 4.18 4.19 i think.....

Thanks for all your help
as far as i can find out the phone switching off problem in the earlier phones was corrected by software version 4.06 and above. but in some cases it is a hardware fault, but so far i just cannot find out what to do to cure this problem. i have searched the net but so far just come up with the old mod that was issued before the software version 4.06, 4.06 and above does not need that mod now, and i have heard about some resistor change but so far cant find that either! (not doing very well am i)
so any more info would be great
Thanks to everyone that has responded and posted

Hi all

Sometimes the phone powers off due to a faulty flash IC some of the ST flashes were apparently faulty up to a certain manufacture date there is a nokia bulletin floating around with the info on it

Later

check this

the intermittant power off is caused generally by two things,
firstly replace R301 to a 100ohm resistor if not already done,
check ccts for location but its below chaps ic between mad ic (small). if this resistor is already 100ohm then need to reflow (first) or replace flash ic.

one of these will fix problem.

R301 -- nok part no. 1620017

hope this helps

Hi to all!
Changing R301 0n UB4-10 boards to 100ohms won't work, It will destroy the hagar. R301 0n UB4- board is 2.1k ohms

hi,

i've tested with various batteries, cleaned contacts etc on the phone but still...

the phone usually stays on 80% of the time, then suddenly (usually when i'm using it) turns off....if i turn it back on, it turns off again...i have to leave it off for a while and then turn it on..this way it works for a few hours.

I've had this problem before and on two occasions it was the on/off switch not being open circuit but have some resistance. Replacing the switch cured it on both occasions
