Hi,
I changed the security code on my Nokia 3100 to a code I know and use for differrent things. When I went to put in another sim card in to my phone, other than the original sim card, I then entered the Security Code as I knew it to be. It said code error. No matter what combination I try of the numbers I know I entered it still does not work. A friend of mine did the same thing and is having the same problem. I have retried all the usual codes, 12345, 00000, 5555, etc, etc but none of these will work.
My original sim card still works in the phone but I have another sim card that I use when I travel. I need to be able to put this sim in my phone or else my phone is useless to me outside of my own country.
Is there anything I can do about this, I really do not want to restore the factory settings, someone else told me that this may not solve the problem anyway.
Awaiting Any ideas that anybody might have?

if you have a cable for this you can read/reset the security code with a bit of software called gammu (on the forum somewhere !!)

otherwise most unlocking shops can reset the security code for you

i'm having the same problem with that and i can use Gammu on Win XP.
I have the USB cable, but it isn't original from nokia and it works perfectly when i'm using Oxigen Phone Manager 2.
Will it work with Gammu? Does Gammu work better in Win 98/Me?
thank you

wxp manages the opening and closing of the ports, thus not not allowing application to manage ports directly (very basic explanation). Gammu needs to access the ports directly. So you will need another program, that i can't remember the name, that allows apps to run directly the ports instead of the windows mediation.

Do a search on the forum, as Mr. browntoa said, gammu is on the forum somewhere, and this little application too.

Best regards

,,..in order to factory reset the phone it will ask for the security code, which
you don't have.

and since connectivity options are limited (officially you can only use the dku5 cable provided by nokia) you will have to search for a fbus cable for the 3100 (also compatible with the nokia 6100). now when you have this cable you can
start looking for gammu (a dos based program) and search for "userport" so
that gammu will work in windows XP. now if gammu doesn't work for you (loud gasps from gammu users). go to logomanager.co.uk and go to the download section and search for NK3 profile. it may help you. ssshhhh don't tell anyone about this. this program actually works better with infrared and bluetooth. both
of which the 3100 does not have. so you will have to configure it to work with the fbus cable.
