ok still reading up on this but the news is that the 6630 is DCT5 and what is it new great feature??

SOFTWARE FLASHING though USB!!!

all it uses is the DKU-2 cable that comes in the box!!

this is not going to have a public release its just for nokia service centres with the pheonix service software exclusive to nokia branches, but i have managed to find a site and am currently downloading this software.

i also have found internal pdf files which give detail instructions on how the process is carried out!!

WAHOOOOoo

i wont post the pdf as i am unsure of the nature of legalities associated with them as they are maked confidential and internal nokia documents

EDIT:
ok problem installing application, you need a "nokia dongle" inorder to use the application
but still promising for future knowing it is possible to flash the 6630 with the DKU-2
maybe a thirdpart application with out need of dongle or a dongle emulator will allow use to upgrade/repair our phones our selves

we should get to coding and cracking the program. Might be as simple as a different line in an .INI file. Then again, probably not.

well well...do u think is all so easy?

flashing via USB is possible on many phones...not only nokia. but none is available for public use. communication protocol and protection for sw are 2 different things

Hard to do today, easy by tomorrow! By the way, when it comes to "most number of posts amassed in ANY and ALL existing forum worldwide, no doubt tzeon is the world record holder at 8K+ posts in less than two years! Whew!

You lot are looking to use Nokia Phoenix without a PKD-1 dongle or a Phoenix Black Box?

Excellent. Hope you know all about cracking DESkey ASIC encryption

And just for the record, there is a crack which works with Phoenix A15, but it will only install on a fresh Win98 image, flashing is a no-go and it's flaky as.

At the moment there is no free solution to flash the 6630. Phoenix Black Box used with Nokia Phoenix is the only 100% solution as far as I am aware.

Sorry for another noob question, but I'm about to give away my 6630 on Saturday as I haven't been able to place a single phone call with it since I got it a few weeks ago.

How big an improvement is that discovery by LeeSpud ?

Can it let us think this phone will be unlockable soon, say in less than 2 weeks ?

Thanks for your help and sorry for this question, but once again, I'd be sick to sell it on Saturday and find out the day after it can be unlocked =)
