NOKIA 8210 Memory backup battery ??

I have a question that I wonder since years !!!

What is this very small better for ? It is in the device of the screen, near keyboard, included inside, with 2 pins that contact the circuit of the 8210. . .
What is this battery there for please ? What is it's rule ? Because without it, all works perfectly anyway. .. .

hey, first post the battery is for keeping the clock and date details for the phone, some phones have the internal clock battery feature others dont which is piss take i think they should have it.

my 6610i had it as well
