"N-Gage to quietly dis-Ngage?
Nokia's cutbacks cut deep
By Tony Dennis: tisdag 18 januari 2005, 22:34
ALTHOUGH NOKIA HAS admitted to some pretty stringent cuts in its R&D budget, its entire N-Gage games unit looks in doubt, according to rumours afoot.
The INQ's Nordic mole claims Nokia is plotting to get rid of its entire Bochum, Germany facility by Q1 2006. That's not just N-Gage R&D we're talking about, it's the production facility as well.
Nokia was refusing calls at press time. Sven Mole was pretty much adamant that this is the end for the N-Gage as we know it, although Nokia could easily switch N-Gage production elsewhere.
Last week Nokia admitted it was dispensing with around 250 R&D staff in Finland while around 100 or so other R&D staff would go from other locations."

This is just a rumor. But if it's true it means that production of N-gage and N-gage QD will stop Q1 2006. And since it's also the N-gage R&D that gets shut down, it probably means there won't be a N-gage 3.

Of course I understand those languages. I even speak two of them. ;)
But doesn't it seem likely that N-gage production will end in 2006? The N-gage is quite old then, and the sales haven't been too good. But I hope there will be an N-gage 3.

I'm not worried @ all. Nokia's N-gage will still be around 4a long time. Just because their doing some cuts in a certain area. Doesn't always mean it's 4 the worst.

We can only hope so. But I think they must release a new N-gage in 2006, if N-gage is to survive.

It would also help if Nokia or the companies that r making the games 4 the N-gage. 2 set a factory price of $24.99 4 all games, wheather their new or how good they claim 2b by the companies that make them. And stop with this $34.99, $42.99 & so on.
So many threads about N-Gage's death, I just got it and must say it's awesome especially for a mere $150. You have N-gage games, Sega games, Nintendo games, Gameboy games, C64 classic games, an mp3 player, a radio, movies, DOOM, all these awesome symbian apps, e-mail, a cellphone, the rumors about the upcoming SNES emulator and Wolf3D, all I need for at least another year (I never kept a phone for more than 6 months). I hope there's an N-Gage 3 with a bigger screen and more processing power, I would not hesitate to buy it, hear it Nokia???

You totally missunderstood!
It is not about the hardware-deck, but about the games! There will be no N-Gage 3 (and also no new games) without the games selling well.
The Phones are so cheep, because Nokia wants their games to make the money.
But with no one buying those games, N-Gage will be dead for sure...
