Is it possible to change the imei on my 3200, the reason being that i lost it over a month ago and reported it to vodafone who barred it. Then low and behold the damn thing turned up last week, so i rang vodafone again who told me that because i never registered the phone when i got it, the couldnt satisfy themselves that i was the rightful owner and could therefore not lift the bar on the handset (although they needed no proof or ID to bar the handset in the first place, so i am left at finding an alternative solution :???:

the new nokia phones (DCT4), have extra protection for the imei. they have a dedicated rom chip to store the imei and it cantīt be changed unless you change the chip.
you'll need to change operator. your phone will probably work with other operators since they don't share black listed imei's....

wrong in the uk all the networks by law have to share their blacklists, so unless you can change the uem chip and then get you'r hands on a flasher like the nbox it's worthless, you'd be better off selling it abroad where it will still work on their networks.

there is a way to change the imei on your phone. It'll cost you something like 5000 usd, since you need a hot air station, micro soldering equipment, the new chip, a box to rebuild imei and load the firmware, the firmware (well, it comes with the box), get a valid imei, and enough skills to do it. Besides that, it is illegal in most countries.
It is a lot cheaper and easier to get a new phone.
Best regards
