i get the "Reconnect charger" message aswell but only when i use my new charger that i bought because the wire on my original charger snapped, anyway it is a travel charger that i am using now and that is the one that i get the reconnect charger message. i also sometimes get a message saying "not charging". i only get these messages when i use the travel charger, but if i use my sisters charger which is an original nokia charger, my phone charges perfectley.
can anyone help me with a solution to my problem

will the travel charger work with any other phones? try it, it may be faulty. also newer nokias dont like cheap chargers, my 8310 will not work off 50% of in-car chargers, just goes MEEEP! not charging.

Dave.

the charger doesn't work with other phones, but the description of the charger from the place where i bought it says it has over charging protection which i think could be the problem, if anyone knows how to get my charger to work properly so that it will fully charge my phone

hey guys, if you look at the picture its not obvious but if you look on the board itself you will see that the TINY resistor R200 is actually connected to C200 and C201, these are to the right of the chip (chaps or whatever it is) in the picture. this may help those who dont have access to hot air equiptment as R200 may be a bit tricky to solder too, so solder to C200/201 instead.

I have attached the modified picture to illustrate this.

regards, Dave.

The R200 is not actually conected to C200/C201. It's conected to L201 next to C233.
Try to remove L201 on good fones and using multitester measure the R200 connection to this L201 pads. Then you will see where is R200 actually conected.

I have a 3310 with the same problem.

If I leave it as it is, am I doing any damage to the phone, or will the condition get any worse.

It is a bit of a pain in the neck, but I can live with it if it costs too much too repair.

Thanks
