When Rolis flasher was written that chip wasn't used in 3310 phones and since the program is made of just an exe file with all the definitions inside it's impossible to update it by the end user
The solution is to use a program like Knok, which is slower but uses definition files in a separate folder that can easily be updated.
So just install the prog and look for the files DEV_LIST.FPS and add this line 002088CE: ST M28W160E, ALIAS_ID=00898896

hey, i know you're getting desperate but... we want to keep our vision in good conditions :-P
I lacked some info and here it is: you must edit the file "flashid.cfg" and add the following string-> 00898896 I28F160.TIA
hope this solves your problem or there will be no screen resolution enough to display your next cry for help ;)
cheers and post results

lets clear things first
my instructions were only for those that were faced with the unidentified flash chip message from Rolis
"cannot prepare phone" can occur from bad cables, defect flash IC, bad LPT settings, dirty board (phone), broken pins from cables lead, etc...
be sure to verify all the possibilities...
