mp3 sms ngage?

Hello i have the nokia n-gage original. Im wondering why others does and this doesn't? the phone seems to play mp3 ringtones but only .mid sms tones? whats the point in that limitation? Can any1 help me get mp3 sms ringtone to play! thanx. My friends phones seem to play mp3 as sms tone.

hmmm what are the phones of your friends? Correct me if i am wrong but

AFAIK..N7650, N3650/3660, N6600, N7610, NGage Classic, Ngage QD dont play MP3s as ringtones...

from what i tried, N6260, N3230 do play MP3s as ringtones or msg alerts

well i can only say from that list that n-gage original does play all files as ringtones coz i have an mp3 as tone rite now. my friend has a few fones so dont know which he using. But if any1 can tell me for sure if ngage plays mp3 sms tone or not that would be grateful.

the ngage plays .mp3 (and etc) as ringtones and only .mid and .wav as sms warnings, that's life.
