My Nokia 6100 Isn't Working!

I have a Nokia 6100, which I bought about 2 years ago. It won't work anymore. One minute it was working fine, the next minute, it switched itself off and I couldn't get it back on again. I charged it up with my own charger - nothing - I used someone else's charger, still nothing....then I borrowed a friends battery, still didn't work!
In the end I took it to a mobile phone repair shop, he had a look at it and decided it must be the software, he said maybe there's a virus in it, and he wouldn't be able to fix the phone as he doesn't know enough about the software!
