Need help in unlocking Nokia 3120B (RH50) locked to Cingular Wireless.
Tried code 1 and code 7 but they did not work. I don't want to try anymore codes unless I'm pretty sure they will work.
Will appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks. :(

Just to check, have you actually tried to use another carrier's SIM in the phone to confirm it is locked?
Try to use another SIM, if it gives "Phone Restricted" then it is locked, if it doesn't then it is already unlocked, as many Cingular phones are.

I tried using code calculator 5.4 by CyberGSM twice on code 1 and 7. They both failed on the first and second try. Then I followed the suggestion to alter the GEN code to 32835 but this time I used the NokiaFree Unlock Code Calculator v3.1 and tried code 1. IT WORKED. Now I can use the phone on any network!!! Thanks!! :-D

How about a 3120 locked to 310-380 (AT&T/Cingular)??
Also, which handset are you selecting? I looked but the 3120 is not listed.
Thanks in advance....

I would like to unlock my Cingular 3120. After read this thread, I have some naive questions about how to follow your suggestions and input the codes in NOkiaFree unlock code calculator v3.1.
1. Choose "Nokia" in the first list
2. Choose "DCT4 (expert only)"
3. input IMEI #
4. choose "USA"
5. choose "CINGULAR-Pacific Bell Wire
6. MCC+MNC automatically becomes "31017000": should I remove the extrat three zeroes at the end or just leave them there?
7: choose "ASIC2"
8: choose "Custom" and input "32835" for the last blank?
Please point out anything wrong. Thanks,
I would like to hear your feedback before really wasting my 5 precious chances. :)

Yes... This is correct, though no need to remove those extra zeroes... Good Luck!!

I also have the same phone (Nokia 3120b) and seem to have problem unlocking. Tried using the Cingular with custom code 32835 and it didn't work. Also tried the default ATTWS with griffin from the calc and didn't work.
I have an unusual situation... I live in NC and still use the ATT SIM. ATTWS has sold their network to Cingular, except in NC where they sold off to Suncom/Tridom PCS. There's no logo on the phone or startup so I can't determine which carrier has me locked.
At the present, it looks like I still go through Cingular for customer service, using a the original ATT SIM riding on Suncom network in which I get a bill from them.
Any suggestions or idea? Or if there's a custom code for Suncom/Tridom PCS?
TIA

I followed exact steps listed by “xu111”. It didn’t work. After entering the codes nothing is happening. I have Nokia 3120b from Cingular. It is a Go phone from Cingular. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. I am using “NokiaFree Unlock Codes Calucalter v3.10”.
Thanks

What calculator have you tried?
I am pretty sure that you will need to use a calculator that can manually alter the GEN
The GEN for Cingular 3120b was 32835
Generate the codes using Cingular 31017 with the above GEN
Try CODE ONE ONCE and post results
This information has been posted previously in other threads try a search (3120b) on (3120) or (cingular)
Good Luck
I just received my GoPhone today from Cingular (USA). Using CyberGSM Calculator v2.7I, I followed subway999's suggestions, entered the first code and it worked like a charm. My new Nokia 3120b is now unlocked. I'm so happy....

I unlocked 8 out of 9 Cingular 3120b Go Phones using code 32835. They all had IMEIs that started with 355. The 9th phone has an IMEI that starts with 353, and I have had no success unlocking it. I've tried 32835 (as discussed here), 34144 (as discussed elsewhere) and 33820 (default V2).
So in general 32835 is the way to go.
Has anyone unlocked a phone whose IMEI starts with 353?

you still have 32779 and 32821 and two tries left
Next time forget 314144 and 33820, too old boxes.

I've got a new 3120b on Cingular. The phone date is 15-11-04 and ver. 5.01. I want to be able to see the available networks. In the "System" menu, I do not have an option to view the available networks or switch auto/manual. So I assume it is locked. If I unlock it, will this change the phone's menu so that I can see the available networks?
For some reason, I can't find the NokiaFREE unlock calculator v 3.1. All I see is ver 3.0 beta. That calculator doesn't show the 3120b. The RH-50 shows under 3100. Will the calc work properly with that as the choice? My IMEI also starts with 355, so I am encouraged that it might unlock successfully using the GEN 32835 codes.
Thanks for any advice before I proceed. Is v2 and the 32835 code appropriate?
Using the 32835 GEN code, Asic 2, just like the previous poster, my 3120b phone unlocked on the first try. Unfortunately, the menu choices have not changed and I cannot see who the available networks are. The Cingular SIM must block that menu, or it was disabled from the factory or by Cingular.
If anyone knows how to enable that menu (show available networks and auto/manual selection), or if it is a SIM card issue, please let me know. I'll try finding someone with a different carrier's SIM this weekend to see if that alters menu availability.
Thanks to everyone for your help and success reports for unlocking.

Just unlocked a Cingular 3120b with the IMEI starts with 356. I use ASIC 2 with 32835 and unlocked with the first try. Thanks subway999
Hey guys,
I'm having trouble unlocking a Cingular locked 3120b. The IMEI starts with 356.
I've tried CyberGSM (v2.7 and version 5.4), I've tried the online nokiafree code calculator and tried to download and install the nokiafree V3.1 but the file wont execute(even after a few restarts)...
I've used 4 out of 5 of my tries! i'm going to have to have it sent out for cable unlocking if i screw up 1 more time.
I'm going to try 32835 as the Box serial ID next but- should i put in 32835 as the MNC too? or keep that the cingular 31017...
any ideas?

you said you had only tried 4 times but didn't say what messages you got.
Were them all "code error"? or "Cannot undo restriction"?
hillstrubl
22-11-2005, 06:28 PM
code error, i still havent seen "cannot undo restriction" does that mean its possibly not hardlocked?
mestrini
22-11-2005, 06:52 PM
the 5th try stills shows "code error" but after that all show "cannot.."
so, no harm in trying pne more time to see what you get ;)

Unlocked two 3120b phones yesterday. Both have IMEI starting with 356.
As far as I know digits 3-6 of IMEI merely denote assembly plant/location.
Received these phones as upgrade/migration from AT&T to Cingular.
Used NokiaFree ver. 3.1 calculator.
Settings (other than defaults):
Nokia
DCT4 (did not choose model)
USA
Cingular - Pacific Bell Wireless
Custom 32835 (manually overridden this)
Used seventh code from the list each time.
Hope this helps somebody.

I used CyberGSM's Code Calculator v5.4
Worked the 1st time I tried unlocking it :D
Here are my settings that I used:
MCC+MNC: 31017
USA
Cingular Pacific Bell
Nokia DCT4
Asic 2
Box Serial ID: 32779
Checked: Enable IMEI CHECKSUM, Stretch Nokia Codes
I hope this will help!
BTW my IMEI starts with 356 so I don't think there's a big difference between the IMEI 355, 356, etc.

Curious....under Settings -> Phone Settings, I am able to see the Network Selection option. When I choose it, I see 3 networks: Cingular, cingular, and TMobile. Does this mean that my phone is already unlocked?
Note: It was previously an AT&T phone.
Thanks for the iUnlock.com link. I'll probably give them a visit and see if they can unlock my 3120b and Samsung x426.

It was original an AT&T phone but Cingular bought them out and the phone got (automically) converted to a Cingular service. I was thinking maybe they unlocked it for me somehow... :-?

Finally got it on 4th try using NokiaFree calculator v3.1.
I have a *new* Nokia 3120b which still uses an AT&T SIM card, though the provider is Cingular. The IMEI# starts with 356.
I finally got it unlocked (on the 4th try!) using the following settings:
ASIC2
DCT4
MCC+MNC (network): AT&T Wireless (31038000)
Custom GEN: 32835
Used code# 7 and it worked! I have tested 2 foreign SIM cards in the phone and it boots without complaint (one even changes the language to Spanish automatically), though of course it finds no signal in the USA.
