Forgive me if this has been answered before. I tried finding an answer but didn't get anywhere - and I've already spent all morning on Google trying to find an answer.
My hubby tried in vain in the past to unlock his Nokia 3650. None of the codes we found at the time worked, and we didn't know of the 5 code limit. I found some reliable codes yesterday and successfully unlocked my 3650. Of course when hubby tried his it said "not allowed".
What now? Some stuff comes up in Google about buying a cable but most sites are based in the UK which doesn't help us much. I found a US site where I can buy a data cable, but then what? Is there any other option? We're in the St. Louis area if that makes any difference.
We want to be able to use these phones with our British SIMs when we visit my family, and also when our AT&T contract expires we want to go with T-Mobile instead of Cingular, but keep our phones. Help?

We do have insurance on the phones. I think we have a deductible though, but it would probably still be cheaper than buying another 3650!

Hello Amber! well, let me explain something, because I don't think things are clear enough.
"No allowed" means you have found a correct code, but the five tries limit was reached before.
Now, when we say "cable unlocking", it's not a simple cable. The phone needs to be reflashed, that means loading the phone with a clean firmware, that is a firmware that has no lock programmed.
In order to do that you need more than a cable, you need a cable AND a box, like Griffin, Twister, UFS3, etc., which are rather expensive for just one phone.
The best solution is to find a small phone repair shop, they will flash the phone for a small charge, max 30usd.
I hope this helps a little.
Best regards

The phone warranty is long expired.... hence why we have separate insurance on them. We got these phones when they were first released.
How do I find a phone repair shop? I did understand what the 'not allowed' meant. That's why I knew we were out of options as far as entering a code goes. Thanks for clarifying that I need a box also - some sites are very misleading and make it sound like you can just buy a cable then download some software!

Really I have no idea if how to find a repair shop... I'm from Argentina. You could use a search engine on the net, or your local yellow pages I think.
And yes, sometimes internet sites are very misleading. The confusion comes from DCT3/DCT4 technology. While DCT3 handsets CAN be unlocked with a simple clip, DCT4 phones cannot. But usually few sites set that clear enough so owners of DCT4 phones finally buy a cable, which, for the sake of unlocking the phone, is useless.
Best regards
