Just got another faulty 8210...

Power amp had gone, so i have changed that and its working great now.

Problem is, the LEDs wont light. This phone was water damaged. I have cleaned it all down prior to installing the new PA.

I can get the LEDs to light if i ground a cathode (they light up orange instead of green). but i have reoldered all the LEDs with no luck of them actually working properly.

any help appreciated...

cheers,
jon

8210/8250/8850/8855 LED is driven by a IC
the IC provide the current, not voltage.
You can try to replace the IC.
Because of the PCB, 8210's LED only goes light when all of them are installed correctly, so, if one of them is damaged, no LED will work any more. Check your LED one by one.

Sorry i disagree i have 8210 - old rom 5 with original v5.16
Soldered on leds in keypad - and they light even if i had only one led attached or 3 on one side and not on other, strange :p

How do you make them light up orange??

By applying too much current !

exactly :) you can ground one to test which has gone, but dont do it for more than a fraction of a second or you will blow them all.
