Yes there are sim cards that can carry two number in one sim card, but i don't know which one's.
I think you need to ask your service providers if they support it cause not all of then do... and those that dont may have lock the phone settings for it if you got your phones from them so you have to flash your phones to get the original setting that came with it.
Then your phone must support it, not all phones do.. on some phones, it gives you the option wen you call to use line 1 or 2. some let you setup line 1 for voice and line 2 for txt. some let you forward every call coming in from line 2 to line 1. some lets you know if the calls are coming in from line 1 or 2.. Not all phones have all the features some may have just 1 or more... your have to research on your phone...
You should have an idea if your phone supports 2 line from its user guide.. Look at the part on the different icons that apear in your phone and if you see an icon with "2" and discribe it as a second phone line then your phone supports it... Or in your Call Settings part in the guide where the option "Line In Use" appears should have it too. The only reason why you don't see the option in the actual phone is maybe your provider lock it or does not support it.
I have the nokia 6682 and i can see in the guide that it supports 2 line, but my provider cingular does not so the options was lock by them.. Some providers i know that support 2 lines are smart and globe in the philippines.

There can only be registrated one telefonnumber (IMSI) on the network for each gsm handset (IMEI) - but sometime you may experince some wierd stuff when having a GSM SIM card with multiple telefonnumbers (IMSIs). As far as I remember: Sometimes a network caches the registration of a handset, so when the handset is registrated with IMSI A and then activates IMSI B, then the gsm handset might be able to "ring" if someone calls you on IMSI A even thougth the GSM SIM card uses IMSI B - but but but .... when you try to pick up the phone - then a "RUN GSM COMMAND" cmd is performed between the handset and the SIM, which basicly then invalidates the current registration.

I'f you got a line with globe you can ask them to add a second line to your sim card, and they will gladly do it... but you will be paying for thw two numbers in separate bill, i dont know if they do pre paid or line and prepaid together... just ask them...
for the phone, depending on wer you got it.. and the model...
if you got it from a provider that does not support two lines they might have disable the feature and u have to flash the phone to the original software out from the factory.....
if you got the phone from a third party, then it should come with the factory software, unless the one that sold you the phone just unlock it from another provider....
hope it helps.......
just recently though i have experimented with super sims that can hold 2 or more number, even up two 16 numbers, the only problem the hardware that comes with it, which is the one responsible for scanning the providers sim for its settings work only with the old version of sim... if you provider uses the newest version then don't even try cause it will only destry your sim and you go to all the hastle og replacing it...

Hello,
I'd got a dual sim some months back. It's just a piece of junk. You can't use both the sim's simultaneously. You need to switch off and then switch on the cell phone and you get automatically logged into the second sim.
So all you can use it is for a backup provider incase the network for the first one is screwed up, restart and try the second providers network. So just waste of money totally!

The only use for a dual sim is if you travel alot and don't feel like carrying the sims for different countries/providers around in different phones or by themselves. And if you clone a sim nowadays and try to use both original and cloned sim if they register on network at same time you'll usually get shutdown.

This stuff about single sim two numbers I am hearing for first time. I got new cell phone named Lephone which has three sim slots two for gsm and one for cdma. All work simultaneously, no need to switch phone lines... Just 4k in India

You can use just one.In the duel SIM card phone. You can use two SIMS at a time. Also you can use only one SIM at a time
Also you can use any one slot from the two available in your phone for one SIM card.

The way work is they allows access to one of the either 2 sim you will have in the dual sim adapter
the Phone can only talk to one sim at a time and only 1 simcard session can be active at one time using the dual sim adapter
this applies to both external ones and where you need to cut the network sim
when you power up a simcard it needs to establish a session with the network simcards to be able to talk with them.
send ATR sim service table at starup and iccid etc and set baud rate send imsi etc
so at the monent no dual simcard support calls on both sims at same time
if you need this function it can be found only is dual sim phones what have 2 gsm recievers and transmitters can handle multiple connections
