Unsure, but more than likely, yes as they technically are all one company.

This technique has been verified to work with the RM-76 version of the Nokia 6101 Locked to an Irish netwrok.

It says "Phone restriction on".

Strange. Are you sure? Because it should had gave you "code error". It's a certainly strange message. Are you completely sure it was not "phone restriction off"?

Nope, the code is definitively not working... when the code is entered, the phone shows a No-Entry sign and says "phone restriction on".
Is there any other codes or methods i could use?

How many times have you entered a wrong code? You may have locked up the phone? I've never had this problem, so I don't know what message the phone would or would not say, but that MAY be the problem...

A stupid question did you enter the whole code with all the caracters, I mean, p,w and + ?, and without SIM card in ?

:???: I've entered to code with all the caracters and the sim inside.
The phone is not blocked yet as i've turned it off and back on after each code. Thanks for your help anyway!

Another possible option is trying the follwing: enter the code with a not accepted sim card in the phone. Some models need a not accepted sim in it in order to register the code.

I can personally confirm that he is correct about the 'Phone Restriction On' message - this has appeared on a number of 6101 handsets I have attempted to unlock, both RM76 and RM77, many of them tried with an alternative network sim card inserted. It is strange because the majority of them unlock without a problem using the method mentioned earlier in this thread. This 'Phone Restriction On' message appears to be causing quite a lot of confusion - does anyone know exactly what it means? I'm currently trying to get some information from the networks here in the UK but not holding my breath :???:

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a typo in firmware's strings. Or even if the function called the wrong string number
U sure that the fone remained unlocked? Have u tried more than 5 tries?

Phones remained locked after the 'Phone Restriction On' message. Cannot be 100% sure if any of these handsets had been subject to previous code entries although the owners stated that they had not.

"Phone Restriction On" is when more than 5 tries have been exceeded on the 6101. Why did they change the message on this model? Who knows. We now have 3 different 5 tries exceeded messages..

Hi,
Interesting subject here, I saw such responses in flash files too.
Yes, when knowing the response it's not to hard to see what happened while trying entering codes.
In dct3, I know 4 different response messages, splitted into 2 functions for locking or unlocking. (#pw/*pw)
1. 'Not allowed' // 'Not allowed'
2. 'Sim restriction on' // 'Sim restriction off'
3. 'Sim was already restricted' // 'Sim was not restricted'
4. 'Code error' // 'Code error'
In dct4 it looks like they combined into 1 function with 8 different response messages. (8310-620)
1. 'Phone restriction on'
2. 'Phone already restricted'
3. 'Phone restriction off'
4. 'Code error'
5. 'Phone was not restricted'
6. 'Wait and try again'
7. 'Cannot undo restriction'
8. 'Not allowed'
On a phone with more as 1 lock, each trial will have it's own response.
This means U might see that the phone restriction was set to off, but for the other lock(-s) it still can be blocked.
If U know, I think it would be helpfull when U all add Ur experiences here to any of these responses.
Then we could gather it into a reliable troubleshooting FAQ or sticky.

This is not true as it's a message one might see right out the box.

A second code with a different box serial might work after
New "safe" serials have been tried on the phones and failed, and it is not that unusual for a phone to have 5 tries exceeded out of the box. The mobile phone industry operates the same scam as the computer industry, with many supposedly "new" phones not being so. I've seen quite a few phones give "Cannot Undo..." straight out of the box.
Out of the 6101' I've seen, the message has appeared on around 10%, with most unlocking normally. This is a high percentage to fail, but the same "safe" serial was used on each.
However, as the percentage is high then I'll experiment some more with alternative codes, especially given NokDoc's message.

AHHHHHH! I've tried DCT4 asic 2 and asic6. 4 tries with negative results. I only have one more shot before this thing is locked up for good. Can anyone help? The online calculator did not have Mexico Telcel as a network, and did not have 6101b (RM-77) as a choice. Verified that IMEI is correct. ---Mojo

Hey nesizm. What exactly did you do? I mean, exactly. People won't really be willing to help if you don't provide exact details, such as, "I left the T-Mobile SIM in and entered the 7th code with the suggested settings..." etc. Tell us all the little things that you did down to the T.
This will also help others who are wishing to try and learn how to unlock the T-Mo branded 6101 in the US, as well. Thanks.

I have T-Mo US have the same problem with the unlock code. The unlock code was provided to me by T-Mobile tech support 3x and they told me 3x they have the correct code. I told them several times that the code doesn't work. I've tried it more than 5x and keep on saying "Phone restriction on". Tried it with sim, without sim and foreign sim and got the same code (Phone restriction on). Didn't say my phone is already blocked (after several tries). T-Mo tech said unless I get an "error..." 5x phone will be blocked (I hope he's right). I did go through step by step with the tech and they still couldn't figure out what's wrong.
I was telling them maybe the code that they're gave me was to lock the phone not to unlock. last email I got from them stated that that was the correct code.
I did the reverse step and key in the unlock code (#pw................+1) and found T-Mo US code provided by them under is DCT4 Asic 6 and box serial# 32825. I don't know what they mean.
My phone states: nokia 6101b made in mexico at the back.
Any T-MO USA successfully tried unlocking their phone??
Also is my phone already blocked? I have more than 5 tries. It didn't state any blocked message. All it says everytime I tried unlocking "Phone restriction on"

Hi,
There are many thread about 6101 unlocking, I chose to post here as it seems to be the most popular one, although it concerns 6101 RM-76 without 'b' :)
I successfuly unlocked a nokia 6101, locked to Bouygues (France):
Nokia 6101 / V 03.30 / 20-05-05 / RM-76
Used following setting:
DCT4 (expert only)
MCC+MNC 20820000 (for frenc Bouygues provider)
Asic 2
Original
==> Used #7
But I couldn't unlock it with the standard way (without sim car in) : when I was typing the 22th caracter (ie: the final '#' from '#pw+CODE+7+#'), NOTHING HAPPENED ! No response, so message, nothing at all, I just could delete caracters on the screen...
I had to insert a non-accepted simcard and then press 'Undo' then enter the unlock code calculated (#7) and only then I got the 'phone restriction off' so welcomed message :)
I hope this can help anyone.
Cheers.

Unlocked the third 6101b using NokiaFree Calc v3.1. The last phone is a
warranty replacement and has the following firmware:
V 04.62
06-03-06
RM-77
Language:
V 04.62
06-03-06

Calculator Settings: (used code 7)
DCT4 (expert only)
U.S.A.
T-Mobile
Asic 2
Original (32779)
After the code was entered, the 'Phone restriction off' message came on
and the phone power-cycled itself. There is a sticky thread
(http://nokiafree.org/forums/t79240/h/s.html) for 6101 owners on
why they should not try to unlock these phones with firmware v3.38 and
above using the calculator. In my experience, I had no problems whatsoever
with both v3.39 and v4.62.

I tryied to unlock someone's cellphone 6101 locked to SFR - France, and I got this message: "Sim restriction on".
As I'm sure about the code (I have been unlocking hundreds of nokias since 1 year, including 6101 model), I assume it's question of strange firmware response messages, and it means that this someone had already made more than 3 attempts...
